    Both Iran and USA win

If Shah Khamenei and Abber Jonny were killed during
an attack on Iranian's regime nuclear stock piles the
Iranian people would have to elect a new leader,
    and president.

That  would give Obama a new Regime to
    work with.

And the Khamenei regime would not get a N bomb.
Geeze that sounds like a win, win.

Both Iran and USA win in that case.

And its a clear message to other rogues
    trying to get nukes.

    Iran winning on Nuke issue

    PSA: DEBKA

US president Barack Obama's tough talk of sanctions has melted into soft soap for luring Iran into further dialogue. Adopting the reverse tactic, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sounds almost reasonable for a change, even as Tehran pushes its revolutionary goals as pugnaciously as ever.
DEBKAfile's Washington sources disclose Saturday, Dec. 19 that official US warnings that Washington's patience is running out and tough sanctions are imminent are no more than a smokescreen for three major steps embarked on by the Obama administration in the last four days for dragging out sanctions and setting back military action against Iran's nuclear facilities.
Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu gave the US president another six months for diplomacy without the threat of military action when they met at the White House November 9. The first six months' grace runs out at the end of Dec. 2009. The second ends in mid-2010. Netanyahu was backed up by defense minister Ehud Barak who said Monday, Dec. 14: "There is still time for diplomatic action to stop Iran.”
Using the respite, our sources report that the US president offered three inducements for tempting Tehran to call off its military program:
    1. Whereas Tuesday, Dec. 15, Congress approved penalties for firms selling Iran gasoline and the insurance companies underwriting its sale, the following day, the influential senator John Kerry announced through his spokesman Frederic Jones that the Foreign Relations Committee, which he heads, "needs time to consider the bill."
    2. Friday, Dec. 17, Pentagon spokeswoman Tara Rigler announced a six-month delay in deploying the precision-guided, 30,000-pound Massive Ordnance Penetrator or "bunker buster" bomb (developed specifically for the nuclear facilities Iran and North Korea have sunk deep under ground).
"Funding delays and enhancements to the planned test schedule have pushed the capability availability date to Dec. 2010," she announced.
Only five months ago, in August, the US Air Force announced that the 15-ton bomb for delivery by B-2 stealth bombers had been funded and would be ready for service in July 2010.
Washington is thus offering Tehran another six months to play with, free of threat of sanctions and safe from the bombardment of its subterranean nuclear facilities.
    3. Over the weekend beginning Friday, Dec. 18, Israeli newspaper correspondents briefed by administration officials ran stories denigrating Mossad director Meir Dagan as the only Israeli official hold-out on the need to attack Iran. He is presented as being in the grip of a fixation detrimental to his handling of other key issues. One editorial advised the Israeli government to learn to live with a nuclear-armed Iran.
But the Obama administration's lures had at least one result: Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, speaking from the Copenhagen climate conference, said:
"Everything is possible, 400 kilos, 800 kilos, it's nothing," for enrichment abroad, "but not in a climate where they threaten us. From the outset, delivery of 1,200 kilos of uranium was not a problem for us, but if they believe they can wave a stick to threaten us, those days are over. They have to change their vocabulary to respect and legality."
While preaching to others about sticks, the Iranian president must have thought the big sticks Tehran waved in the last four days alone were invisible.
Wednesday, Dec. 12, Tehran launched an improved Sejil 2 missile which DEBKAfile's military sources confirm is capable of penetrating US and Israeli anti-missile defense shields and defying their interceptors, although US and Israeli sources were at pains to play down its capabilities. Those sources report that Sejil-2 is loaded with electronic chips used as decoys to mislead the electronic systems of the Israeli Arrow 2 and the US Patriot, Aegis and THAAD anti-missile missile systems.
Only last week, furthermore, Tehran signed a new military pact with Syria, roping in the Lebanese Hizballah and Palestinian Hamas as second-strike wielders; Wednesday, the "Iranian Cyber Army" hacked into Twitter and filled its home page with anti-US slogans; for most of December, Iran-backed Yemeni rebels have kept Saudi and government forces on the run and, Friday, Iranian soldiers seized control of an Iraqi oil well in a disputed border region.
All the same, Obama's beckoning gestures and Ahmadinejad's smooth response indicate a fresh round of talks will be explored between the 5P+1 bloc (five Security Council permanent members plus Germany) and Iran before sanctions are broached or either the US or Israel resort to military action against Iran's nuclear facilities.
This means that Washington's determined ultimatum to Iran to comply with its international obligations by the end of 2009 has been extended by a whole year - an extra six months granted by Israeli up to June 2010 and another six months which President Obama tagged on himself in order to further delay an Israeli attack on Iran.
By then, it will all be over: Tehran will have attained a nuclear weapon plus the means of delivery.
Saturday, an Iranian military spokesman declared: "Our forces are on our own soil, and based on the known international borders this well belongs to Iran."
It is not hard to imagine how Tehran will comport itself once it has "the bomb."

BOLTON: Well, I'll just underline the reason to be alarmist. If the rest of the world sees that North Korea can keep its nuclear weapons, they see that Iran is capable of defying United States and getting nuclear weapons, they see Hugo Chavez still completely unplugged and growing closer and closer to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's Iran -- let's not forget Venezuela has its own uranium deposits -- then the lesson, I think, for would-be proliferators around the world is clear. You can get nuclear weapons, and the United States and others will not act to stop you.
And if those constraints don't have any force, then I think we're going to see a lot more countries with nuclear weapons, and I think that raises the risk of global instability by an enormous factor.

    Halloween fear: context

We all love to be scared when we know we are really safe, roller coaster rides and scary movies for example.

This Halloween I was thinking of the scariest movie I had ever saw, the movie I just couldn't take and had to leave the Theater, in front of my friends, it was so scary they left with me.

But first the context, The atom bomb had just happened before I was born, so I grew up with
the atom bomb, note I said atom not Nuclear, nuclear bombs came later.

Any thing "atom" was hot leading science at the time.
At the county fair they even had some guy operating remote hands/fingers they could use to handle radio active materials, you could play chess with him while he used the contraption to move the chess pieces.

And in school we actually practiced "duck and cover" the Nun would holler "atom bomb"
and the kids would all scramble under our desks for safety.
We learned an atomic attack could come at any time, and we had to be prepared to "duck and cover" at a seconds notice to try and live.

And everyone had to know where the public fall out shelters were.

I grew up with the background of mutually assured destruction.

And radio activity was something new, exciting and scary.
My chemistry set had a radio active tube you could look into in the dark and see a spark occasionally?
I have no idea what it was? That may accoun t for my eye sight now, lol.

And you could get your shoe measured by radio active X-rays, you put your foot into the machine and it could look right thru your foot.

I knew a lot of Japanese died from radio activity, more than from the actual explosion, I had heard.

If there were a atom war, every one would die and those who didn't were condemned to terrible deaths, the GROUND/DIRT would be radio active and could kill you, and you couldn't grow food even.

We had even heard of genetic mutation.

With this childhood back ground I and my buds went ot see this HORROR movie,
we steeled our selves, and tried to keep our nerves steady in preparation for what we were about to see, THIS COULD, maybe, ACTUALLY HAPPEN TO US.

As we were a very brave group we sat right down up front, nothing between us and what was happening on the screen.

And at the crucial moment in the movie when we actually saw it happening our little hearts
were racing and blood pressure pumped to the cealing, we just couldn't take it, it was actually happening, we could see it, and I could no longer take the truth of what I was seeing and had
to leave the darkened theater for the light of day, get it out of my mind.
We just went to get some ice cream, no one talked about what we saw.

I had saw it and it scared the Hell out of me, I thought I might throw up.

I saw this poor guy exposed to radiation and he grew to 50 feet.

"Attack of the 50 foot man" The old one in black and white.

I don't know if the US propaganda scarred the Russians, but it scared the hell out of us kids.

    "CONTEXT"

    Happy Halloween.

    Gerald
    Still scared of radiation.

    Iranian fools

Ayatollah Jannati In Iran Friday Sermon: U.S. Economic Woes 'Divine Punishment' – 'The Unhappier They [Americans] Become, The Happier We Get'; 'Americans Should Wait To Be Slapped In The Face By Islam, Muslims, And The Islamic Revolution'

Iranian economic woes must be "divine punishment" for
insulting Allah by lying about their intentions about nuclear arms, 25% inflation, gas shortage, huge increase for basic foods.

The Iranian Military is waiting to be destroyed by a wave of the US Military's hand. For supporting politics in the name of religion. Iranian Military needs to remove some mullahs
before they start a war with USA.

    Gerald
    Whats it like in Iran?
In the depression of the 1930's USA had an inflation rate of 25%, just like Iran has now.

    Safir satellite carrier,

By Barb, Internet Anthropologist Think Tank.
    Paradigm Intelligence.
    Aug. 16, 08

Safir satellite carrier, places payload in low-Earth orbit (LEO).

Reports about its payload are confusing and unconfirmed.

    Paradigm Intelligence suggest:
USA will maneuver for a closer look, questions are how big a payload, any nuclear content, is it maneuverable? Can it be brought out of orbit onto a designated target? USA will be developing a targeting solution.

Is it really a dummy load?
Does this constitute a International Ballistic missile? Can it function as one?

Egypt: Iran should reassure West on nuclear issue

ALEXANDRIA, Egypt: Iran should not present the Western nations justification for war on "a silver platter" in the conflict over its nuclear program the way Saddam Hussein of Iraq did, Egypt's presidential spokesman said Saturday.

Speaking after a meeting between Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Saudi King Abdallah in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, spokesman Suleiman Awwad defended Iran's right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes but said the Islamic Republic should give more assurances to the international community.

Iran has refused to comply with repeated international demands to halt nuclear enrichment, a process that can be used to produce fuel for nuclear weapons or nuclear energy.

"Iran should not present on a silver platter the justifications and the pretexts for those who want to drag the region down a dangerous slope," he said, noting the case of Saddam Hussein who didn't adequately refute claims over Iraq's supposed weapons of mass destruction.

"Iran owes the international community transparency and flexibility," he said. "The Gulf is extremely worried and the Middle East is watching the standoff."

Iran nuke in 6 months? or sooner...

    http://media.npr.org/programs/morning/features/2006/nov/nuke/smsu2200.jpg

Mohamed ElBaradei assumes there are no secret production programs in Iran he doesn't know about. ( 6 months is VERY CLOSE, ) I think this is a risky assumption. G

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

If It Wants To Produce Nuclear Weapons, Iran Would Have To "Leave The NPT, Expel The IAEA Inspectors, And... It Would Need At Least Six Months to One Year"

Mohamed ElBaradei: "If Iran wants to turn to the production of nuclear weapons, it must leave the NPT, expel the IAEA inspectors, and then it would need at least... Considering the number of centrifuges and the quantity of uranium Iran has..."

Interviewer: "How much time would it need?"

ElBaradei: "It would need at least six months to one year. Therefore, Iran will not be able to reach the point where we would wake up one morning to an Iran with a nuclear weapon."

Interviewer: "Excuse me, I would like to clarify this for our viewers. If Iran decides today to expel the IAEA from the country, it will need six months..."

ElBaradei: "Or one year, at least..."

Interviewer: "... to produce [nuclear] weapons?"

ElBaradei: "It would need this period to produce a weapon, and to obtain highly-enriched uranium in sufficient quantities for a single nuclear weapon." [...]

"A Military Strike [Against Iran] Would Be the Worst Thing Possible"

"In my view, a military strike would be the worst thing possible. It would turn the Middle East into a ball of fire."

Interviewer: "It would be worse than sanctions?"

ElBaradei: "Much worse, because a military strike would mean, first and foremost, that even if Iran does not produce nuclear weapons today, it would implement a so-called 'crash course,' or an accelerated plan to produce a nuclear weapon, with the agreement and blessing of all the Iranians – even the Iranians living in the West."

    [...]

Interviewer: "Dr. ElBaradei, what do the Iranian officials tell you when you confront them about the need for more transparency?"

ElBaradei: "They say there will be more transparency, but at the end of the day, I'd rather wait to see this transparency.

    [...]

"I always think of resigning in the event of a military strike."

Interviewer: "You will resign in the event that..."

ElBaradei: "If military force is used, I would conclude that there is no mechanism left for me to defend."

Interviewer: "This is a threat directed at the Americans – if you strike, I will resign."

ElBaradei: "I am not doing this for material profit. If I was working in the private sector, I would... I am doing this out of the conviction that I am defending shared values. If we deviate from these shared values..."

Interviewer: "So there is no justification for an attack..."

"There Will Be No Point in My Continuing My Work If Military Force Is Used"

ElBaradei: "The day I believe that the international system has begun to collapse is the day I will resign."

    [...]

Interviewer: "If the world reaches a consensus that there is no solution but to attack Iran, would you still resign? What if Europe, America, and the entire West agree that the only resolution is a military one?"

ElBaradei: "I don't think that what we are seeing today in Iran poses a clear, imminent, and immediate danger."

Interviewer: "But in a year or two, it could become..."

ElBaradei: "If this happens, it will be a different story, but if a military strike is launched against Iran now, in my opinion, I will have no choice but to..."

Interviewer: "So there is no justification for a strike against Iran today."

ElBaradei: "None whatsoever. There will be no point in my continuing my work if military force is used at present."

Does the world wait to fight a nuclear Iran?

How Iran would retaliate if it comes to war.

I've been reading a lot on the web about how Iran migh retaliate,
Secret cells, Rockets, suicide squads etc. Iran 4 front missile comand.

But one is for sure if the attack on Iran is timed right
the retaliation will NOT be nuclear.

    The Paradigm is clear.

Iran is currently exporting terrorism, Iraq, Afghan, Paki and Palistine and Gaza.
    Palestinian TERROR GROUPS

Question is do we confront them before they have a nuke or after?

Iran has demonstrated its ability to strike in unconventional ways, 5GW.
State suicide, nuclear bomb, to bring on the Mahdi.
illusion of deniability ( al Qaeda )

Does the world want to deal with Iran's unconventional ways, before or after they get a nuke?

If they get a Nuke it is a huge force multiplier, and they have convinced me they will use it
for both political and religious reasons ( Iran will push the button ), and the very best scenario is they only use it as a threat to bend Middle eastern countries to their will, blackmail.
    Persians SKUNK Arabs

The Iranian paradigm is targeting Israel, they have the religious conviction and mandate to use
a nuke, and see a heavemly reward for doing so. And a nuclear suicide attack is not out of their preview.

    Iran's intentions are clear.

Question becomes are they allowed to execute their plan, or disrupt it before they are ready to execute.

Fight a Nuclear Iran or fight a non-nuclear Iran?

The choice is ours. Their intentions have been demonstrated in their actions, in Iraq, Syria, Afghan, Paki, Palestine, Gaza.

Their religious convictions have been publicly stated.

They have admitted their intentions towards Israel.

There is going to be a fight on Iran's terms or on the Worlds terms.

    I chose a non-nuclear Iran.

What will be G. Bush's legacy?

    Iran's Secret WAR plans.

While on a virtual picnic on the WWW one of Company "C" troopers ran into ayatollah Farehd.
And with her best charming virtual personalty got him to explain the Khamemini's secret war plans.
    this is what he said:

I am on the Iranian council, of Khamenei, ( his hat Was charming. )

I believe the Americans are a paper tiger. After all, we held Americans hostage for a year, have warred against them in Iraq, and done other stuff with no consequences meaningful to us.

I have lots of assets. I have a recently developed nuke, and means of delivery. I have Hezbollah, thus control Lebanon, an alliance with AQ, and relations with Hamas and Fatah as well. Have the ability to attack in Iraq and Afghanistan. My ally Syria has many of the missing weapons of Saddam. Iran 4 front missile comand.

I or my allies have agents in the US, Britain, and throughout Europe, in India, and worldwide. These agents have identified targets, and are ready to move. Probably have agents inside Israel, also ready.

I have alliances of a sort with Venezuela and North Korea. Though most Arab countries don't like me much, they like me better than the US and Israel, and we have important interests in common. I know things about them the west doesn't know. Plus I can intimidate them with my nukes.

Persians invented chess. So the plan includes surprise, misdirection and distraction. My pieces are in place, but timing is a question.

Even if US is a paper tiger, I want to act when US is weakest and most confused. Lame duck president is known to be aggressive, still capable of action. If I believe McCain is likely, November/December will be attractive. If Obama is likely, after January may be better. If I'm uncertain of being able to accurately gauge election probability, then right after a setback for Bush may be best. Considering experts in the US can't predict election results, the last may appeal most. Don't want to lose a window of opportunity.

The Supreme Court decision re Guantanamo, or something similar, might suffice as a setback for Bush.

    Other factors re timing:

Wait: My weapons may need more testing/development. US displays increased aggression re Pakistan. AQ is not quite ready in Palestine. Recent attention to weapons I shipped to Hezbollah. If the nuke is ready, others factors are not too important.

Move ASAP: Political rebellion in Iran, supported by US, adds pressure to move when able. US gains in Iraq and Afghanistan. Turkey acts against terrorism. US distracted by major floods and election hoopla. I see most US alliances as weak right now. Israel ruler weakened, act before he is replaced.

Goal: wipe out Israel, humiliate the US, establish Iran as a power, and manipulate God into bringing the Mahdi now and making Islam supreme. This last makes sense to me, seems a reasonable undertaking. We have personal suicide bombing now the world will see State suicide
nuclear bomb, to bring on the Mahdi.

    My scenario:

Ally Syria distracts Israel with negotiations, the Golan issue appears plausible, provides potential hostages. Egypt negotiates re Hamas, may not relate to me, but I don't mind, muddies the water.

Hamas lures Israel military into Gaza.

Once Israel is committed in Gaza, make a big political stink in the UN, rouse the ME street. At the same time, Venezuela and N. Korea make some waves, create a ruckus.Palestinian TERROR GROUPS

I plan to deter and dismay the US by a rapid succession of surprises: terror attacks on US homeland and ally Britain, attacks in India, and elsewhere. Particular focus on European attacks to defuse NATO. Iran's pay-for-performance ... Coordinated attacks in Iraq & Afghanistan using not only expected insurgents and techniques, but infiltrated agents. May use Saddam's weapons, might even threaten Baghdad with a nuke, play on Western humanitarian weakness. Hezbollah's Cyber attacks, disrupt communication. The longer it takes the US to assess the intent of the attacks, the more likely success.

I nuke Israel. Their retaliation will be confused, and my facilities are hardened. I have missile defense. Iran will push the button

Agents in Israel take control of possible assets, hostages, engage in terror strikes. Hezbollah attacks, Hamas uses advanced weapons I have supplied. Syria moves in. What Iranian forces can be spared from Iraq move in. I hope that Egypt and other Arab countries that hate Israel jump in, I have some influence in those countries. Persians SKUNK Arabs. My prediction is that once they see I meant what I said, they will be reluctant to defy the new regional power, and at the minimum will not interfere. My nuke will be influential.

A weapon is meaningless if its possessor is unwilling to use it. I believe the US will not use nukes at all - too timid and concerned about approval of world community. Israel might in retaliation, but not in initial attack. I believe I can prevent, withstand, or deter Israel's retaliation. I'm not concerned about the people of Iran, they exist to support the Islamic Revolution. Thus once I use my nukes, mine are more powerful than those belonging to the unwilling.

If I can envelope and seriously menace Israel fast enough,
Israel itself will be hostage against the US. Only rapid overwhelming force against Iran could stop me. I can then destroy Israel, while promising not to and engaging in diplomacy. Europe, and probably the US, will dither. China and Russia will only pretend to care.

Speed is essential. However if the attack on Israel is not successful within a couple days, need to be able to maintain the illusion of deniability ( al Qaeda ) and Hamas attacks to allow needed time to destroy Israel. Must maintain power of public opinion to hamstring action.

Once the US engages in defense of Israel, events become unpredictable, other countries including Russia and China engage, and the situation goes out of control. I can threaten the US and Europe that I still have agents in place for more terror attacks. I trust to my political skills to ride the tide of events, and hopefully the Mahdi will take charge then. Islam and sharia will reign.

Bush reconciled to a nuclear Iran

Analysis: Bush is reconciled to a nuclear-armed Iran
    ( IRAN WINS, G )

    June 11, 2008, 10:12 PM (GMT+02:00)

In an interview with the London Times , June 11, US president George W. Bush said his aim now was to leave his successor a legacy of international diplomacy for tackling Iran.

DEBKAfile’s informed sources report that President Bush was also clearly bidding farewell to the option of an American strike against Iran’s nuclear program.

Iran’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad shot back by saying: “I tell him… your era has come to an end. With the grace of God, you won’t be able to harm even one centimeter of the sacred land of Iran.”

Our Iranian sources report that Tehran is driving hard to attain a weapons capability by September or October this year, before Bush leaves the White House.

    Very bad news for Israel.
And Bush goes down in history as allowing Iran a Nuke.

aQ WMD and star trek too...

Al Qaeda Supporters' Tape to Call for Use of WMDs
Authorities: New Tape to Urge Use of Weapons of Mass Destruction on Civilians
By PIERRE THOMAS and THERESA COOK
    May 27, 2008

Intelligence and law enforcement sources tell ABC News they are expecting al Qaeda supporters will post a new video on the Internet in the next 24 hours, calling for what one source said is "jihadists to use biological, chemical and nuclear weapons to attack the West."

    al qaeda
Officials say they expect a new tape from al Qaeda to call for the use of weapons of mass destruction against civilians. The group has released messages with increasing frequency this year.
    (AP Photo)

"There have been several reports that al Qaeda will release a new message calling for the use of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) against civilians," FBI spokesman Richard Kolko told ABC News in an e-mail.

"Although there have been similar messages in the past, the FBI and [Department of Homeland Security] have no intelligence of any specific plot or indication of a threat to the U.S.," the e-mail said. "The FBI and U.S. intelligence community will review the message for any intelligence value."

While there is no evidence of any direct threat, the FBI sent a bulletin to 18,000 law enforcement agencies across the country, out of an abundance of caution.

Some independent analysts don't think the public should worry much.

Ben Venzke, the CEO of IntelCenter, a group that monitors terrorist communications on the Web, said the video, entitled "Nuclear Jihad, The Ultimate Terror," is a jihadi supporter video compilation and not from an official group.

"Supporter videos are made by fans or supporters who may not have ever had any contact with a real terrorist," Venzke said. "These videos almost always are comprised of old video footage that is edited together to make a new video."

Reports of a massive new naval base in southern China have fueled more concerns in the West and Asia about the rapid rise of China's military.

The underground base can reportedly hold up to 20 submarines, including new nuclear-armed submarines. It is also apparently big enough to hold future aircraft carrier groups if China decides to build them.

Military analysts say that the base is part of China's long-term plan to beef up its naval and nuclear might. They say the expansion is aimed at deterring Taiwan from making its de facto independence permanent, better protecting China's seaborne energy supplies, and projecting Chinese power far beyond its shores.

China is also replacing about 20 silo-based intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) capable of hitting the US with a new strategic force that includes road-mobile nuclear ICBMs and submarine-launched, nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles, which are less vulnerable to attack. Jane's Intelligence Review, the British-based defense periodical, reported that commercially available satellite imagery had confirmed China's construction of the new base near Sanya, on China's southern Hainan Island. Military sources knew about the planned base since 2002.

China's nuclear and naval build-up at Sanya underlines Beijing's desire to assert tighter control over this region. China's increasing dependence on imported petroleum and mineral resources has contributed to an intensified Chinese concern about defending its access to vital sea lanes, particularly to its south. It is this concern that in large part is driving China's development of power-projection naval forces such as aircraft carriers and long-range nuclear submarines.

China has pursued this build-up at Sanya with little fanfare, offering no public explanations regarding its plan to base nuclear weapons or advanced naval platforms there.

China's foreign ministry refused to confirm or deny the report about the base, according to Reuters.

"China is going down the road of peaceful development. China's national defence policy is defensive. Other countries have no reason to fear, or make a fuss about it and be prickly," [Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang] told a regular news conference.

Meanwhile, some US experts are calling for a strengthening of alliances in the region to counter the growing military challenge from China, reports Agence France-Presse. Arthur Waldron, of the University of Pennsylvania, said the US should strengthen alliances with Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Singapore to contain China's military strength.

James Lyons, an ex-commander of the US Pacific Fleet, said the US should use the same tactics it used to contain the Soviet Union during the cold war. One of Lyons's suggestions: increase US ties with the Philippines by leasing fighter jets and Navy vessels to the island nation.

The revelations about the base near Sanya come as the Pentagon is seeking to forge better ties with its military counterparts in China. The Christian Science Monitor reported earlier this year that US-China military relations still lag behind the two countries' diplomatic and economic relations. The Pentagon hopes that better communication can help clarify the intent behind China's rapid military buildup.

The new base is also raising concerns in India, reports the Asia Times from New Delhi. It said Indian defense experts view China as a long-term military threat, since the two countries have overlapping interests in the Indian Ocean. India recently tested its own Agni III ballistic missile, that will be capable of hitting Beijing and Shanghai.

Indian Express reports that the new Jin-class submarine deployed at the base carries 12 nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles. It notes that the new base in Hainan is 1,200 nautical miles from the Malacca Strait, through which some of China's energy supplies pass from the Indian Ocean.

The new base could help provide China with the ability to cut off commercial traffic through the strait in a crisis. It said China's new base could also spur India to accelerate its own nuclear submarine program. Sea trials for the first sub are set for next year.

The Times of India reports that the extent of the new Chinese base has "jolted the Indian defence establishment." India has nuclear weapons, too, but has yet to develop its own nuclear-armed submarines, a deficiency that "has long troubled defence planners."

While an adversary can take out missile silos and airbases in pre-emptive strikes, it's difficult to target nuclear submarines which can remain underwater for prolonged periods.

The sheer importance of the underwater nuclear deterrent can be gauged from the fact that even the US and Russia will ensure that two-thirds of the strategic warheads they eventually retain, under arms reduction agreements, will be in the shape of SLBMs [submarine-launched ballistic missiles].

Writing in the Federation of American Scientists' Strategic Security Blog, Hans Kristensen strikes a skeptical note. He says that the Chinese have very little experience in operating ballistic missile submarines, so it's not clear yet how strategically significant the new base will be. He suggested that the US could easily monitor Chinese movements from the base, which is near deep water.

The U.S. navy has several decades of experience in trailing Soviet SSBNs [nuclear-powered submarines armed with ballistic nuclear missiles] in the open oceans; shallow waters are much more challenging. And the South China Sea is a busy area for U.S. attack submarines, which have unconstrained access to the waters off Hainan Island. And I'd be surprised if there were not a U.S. "shadow" following the Jin-class SSBN when it arrived at Hainan Island.

The Daily Telegraph quoted a leading arms control expert in saying that China was giving its nuclear forces a major overhaul.

Bates Gill, head of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (Sipri), said that [China] was developing more flexible delivery systems, including from submarines, as well as the capacity to use multiple warheads.

    SOURCE:

"Among the major nuclear powers China stands out in its effort to modernise, expand and improve its nuclear weapons capability," he said in Beijing today.

"We see some very interesting and quite dramatic changes in the way its nuclear deterrent operates."

But the Telegraph says China's arsenal is still the smallest of the five big powers – also including US, Russia, Britain, and France – at only 100 to 200 warheads.

    Iran's nuke.

On April 10, 2007, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad delivered his long-promised message "that will gladden all Muslims" at Iran's Nuclear Day festivities.

Ahmadinejad: Iran Now Producing Nuclear Fuel on an Industrial Scale

With regard to the number of centrifuges at Natanz, Larijani said, "The number of centrifuges doesn't matter. But we have a work output of 3,000 centrifuges. This level and above is considered industrial..." ( ok 3,001 would be considered INDUSTRIAL )

Iranian Atomic Energy Organization director Gholam Reza Aghazadeh... He said, "Iran's program is not to install and operate only 3,000 centrifuges at the Natanz uranium enrichment facilities, but 50,000... We planned and invested for [the installation of] 50,000 centrifuges. The infrastructure that has been established – including equipment for air filtering, electricity, a new air supply, and everything required for this industry – was for 50,000 centrifuges...and in the past year our young scientists have managed to produce 270 tons of UF6....This is the accomplishment of some 3,000 expert scientists and the best of the forces that worked in the past year night and day at the Natanz facility." ( 3,OOO SCIENTISTS DAY AND NIGHT, FOR FUEL? or a nuke? )

In an April 10 lecture on the current state of Iran's nuclear dossier to students and lecturers at Babol University , Hossein Shariatmadari, editor of the Kayhan daily said, "A country that has attained the knowledge and technology of uranium enrichment is only one step away from producing nuclear weapons. This [additional] step is not a scientific or a technical step, but a matter of political decision. ( IRAN IS BUILDING A NUKE )

Kayhan: "The West Must Expect a Shock from Iran at Any Moment"
    (A KOREA NUKE TYPE TEST?)

In an April 10, 2007 editorial headlined "Strategy of Ambiguity," Kayhan noted that since Iran had reached the point of no return in its nuclear program, it could shape its nuclear program in accordance with its political aspirations. The paper said that Iran was now acting far from the eyes of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and that this will enable it to surprise the West – which should at any moment expect an earthshaking announcement from Iran.

...the eyes of the IAEA – the intelligence agency of the West – are finding it more difficult every day [to monitor Iran's activities].... When sanctions resolution 1747 was passed, Iran further reduced IAEA access [to its nuclear facilities] by stopping the implementation of the agreements connected to the 'Safeguards Agreement.'

The path is completely clear... From now on, Westerners must expect a shock from Iran at any moment. It is true that our hands are tied in the Security Council, ....But the Westerners must not forget that Iran's hands are completely free in its nuclear facilities, and that any sanctions resolution in New York... accelerates our technological progress at Natanz. The new surprise has begun...

Tehran Times Editor: Recognize Iran's Nuclear Rights – Or "The World Will Again Witness the Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons" ( IF WE DO NOTHING THEY WILL HAVE A NUKE, USA HAS NO ALTERNATIVE BUT TO STRIKE THEM )

In an article in the Iranian daily Tehran Times, which is identified with Iran's Foreign Ministry, Pervez Ismaili, who is also the editor-in-chief of the conservative Iranian news agency Mehr, stated that the West must recognize Iran's nuclear rights, because Iran had reached the point of no return in its nuclear program. The following are the main points of the article, in the original English:

"...What happened in Iran on Monday provides a great opportunity for the international community. In the current situation, particularly since the 1990s, all nuclear tensions are focused on the idea that there is only a short distance between attaining the expertise required for gaining access to the complete nuclear fuel cycle to produce nuclear fuel for peaceful purposes and using that ability to produce nuclear weapons…( JUST KEEP centrifuges RUNNING FOR MORE CYCLES = WEAPONS GRADE )

"However, the West's severe reaction to Iran's transparent nuclear measures will certainly encourage developing countries to limit transparency or even to establish secret underground installations and eventually withdraw from the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in order to maintain their national interests… If the international community fails to resolve the current crisis as soon as possible by accepting Iran's model, the world will again witness the proliferation of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction in the near future, regardless of the outcome of the confrontation with Iran ( TRANSLATION: ACCEPT IRAN WILL HAVE NUKES, EVEN IF YOU BOMB IRAN, SO DON'T BOMB US )

USA ISRAEL DON'T HAVE MUCH CHOICE.

IF THEY HIT IRAN, IT STOPS DEVELOPMENT, TAKE OUT LEADERSHIP, MAYBE CHANGES IRAN'S COURSE, EITHER WAY IT BUYS SOME TIME.

Iran can be forced to negotiate.

    Iran's Secret WAR plans.

US army chief: Narrow space left for stopping Iran attaining nuke

    May 24, 2009, 6:15 AM (GMT+02:

    Ad. Mike Mullen
    Ad. Mike Mullen
Adm. Mike Mullen, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, issued his most serious warning yet about the approach of a nuclear-armed Iran: "Most of us believe that Iran is one to three years" from developing a nuclear weapon… depending on where they are right now. But they are moving closer, clearly, and they continue to do that," he told ABC's "This Week" Sunday, May 24. He indicated that an Iran could develop a nuke at any time from one to three years hence.
"That's why this engagement in dialogue is so important. I think we should do that with all options on the table…" although a "pretty narrow space" is left for a successful outcome meaning Ira does not end up with nuclear weapons.
At the same time, Mullen said a military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities could have grave consequences – but so too would a nuclear-armed Iran.
In talks with Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu on May 18, US president Barack Obama said the talks with Iran he is seeking cannot "go on forever" and agreed that at the end of the year, progress would be evaluated.
Israel defense minister Ehud Barak visits Washington in the next few days.

If someone were to stike N. Korea HARD, they would have little counter response left, and would be a clear message to Iran.
It maybe safer and eaiser to hit N.Korea than Iran. G
