Saudi Al-Qaeda Supporters Renouncing Views

A senior source in a Saudi Interior Ministry advisory committee that works to bring Saudi extremists to renounce their views has reported that over 150 intellectuals and psychologists have successfully rehabilitated over 1,300 extremists who once supported Al-Qaeda and incited young Saudis.

Also, Sheikh 'Abd Al-Mun'im Al-Mushawwah, director of the Al-Sakinah online campaign to bring extremists to moderate their views, which is under the supervision of the Saudi Islamic Affairs Ministry, has reported that Al-Sakinah staff was currently in dialogue with 25 extremists. He added that 695 of the 1,566 extremists with whom they had conducted a dialogue had renounced their former extremist views.

Afghanistan: Al-Qaeda Releases New Training Manual in Pashtu Language for its Fighters in Afghanistan

The Al-Qaeda movement has released a 144-page training manual for its fighters in Afghanistan in the Pashtu language. The Pashtu-language newspaper Wrazparana Wahdat reported that the book gives lessons in guerrilla warfare, technical knowledge in bomb-making and use of heavy and automatic weapons. The title of the book is ‘Training Lessons’ and is written by one Mukhtar Khurasani. It has 10 chapters and is priced 50 Pakistani Rupees. The publisher is named as Al-Qaeda but the place of publication is not given.

According to the report, the book teaches military lessons for the regional fighters of the Al-Qaeda movement. It gives lessons in methods of making remote-control bombs, lessons in GPS-based wireless system, techniques of firing missiles and use of weapons. The book details how much explosive is to be used if a house, room or a big building is to be blown up. It also carries images of different types of light and heavy weapons and describes their range and power.

According to the report, the book also imparts lessons about the values of jihad, besides security and protection methods for Al-Qaeda fighters. It is supposed to be the third book in a series from Al-Qaeda for its fighters.

Middle East situation report, Paradigm review.

I want to be careful with this, everything I am reporting here is developed from OSINT and application of Paradigm Intel and process.

Our view of the ME is very favorable: ( Excluding Iran )
al Qaeda in Iraq is moving into a mop up Phase.
They are operating as a Criminal gang now.

About two months ago Intel services were able to pick up the IP's of many of the terrorists involved in the operation of their Internet Activities ( even though they diligently use good proxys ). This includes webmasters and the Islamofacists Hackers.

Locating and interrogating these cadre and collection of their data bases on their PC's and thumb sticks lead to many Military operations against al Qaeda and the Taliban, and a virtual shut down of their Internet operations.
Then Civilians closed most of their terror web sites.
Morale on most jahid forums is the lowest we have ever seen it. ( Life expectancy of Internet Jahidist is 3 years. )

There are many classified operations on going. A major one covered in the press is the operation in Afghanistan, Which has led to a decapitation of all mid-level Taliban cadre.
Even the Taliban see the writting on the wall, and they are looking for a way out.

Biny has admitted al Qaeda has failed in Iraq and he goes begging for any support, which Islam continues to deny him.
KIA are way down, Civilian deaths are way down, unEmployment and inflation in Iraq are way down, key indicators.





Spain seems to be into some heavy secret operations and we don't have a good handle on that yet.

al Qaeda has been wringing suicide bombers out of the Ummah for six years now and abusing them and their souls.

al Qaeda is low on money and man power, and USA is getting closer to Biny and his top level
commanders.

We expect some last hurrahs, and al Qaeda to go out in a fit of violence.
The Taliban maybe converted.

A major worry is the "LAW of unintended Consequences."

Example:
GAP Inc. just discovered some of their goods were made by starving children. ( I know, I don't know if they are really starving, and neither does GAP )
They re-doubled thier efforts to make sure no children are involved in sweat shops making their products.
And there will be a crack down on children working.
While I support these efforts, I want to make sure "starving children" have not been kicked out into the street to starve from the sweat shops.

Starving, dying children is more offensive that having them work in a sweat shop, where they earn money for food.
We have to look at consequences.

Drugs in Afghan and Patki fall into the same category.

While I support the anti-drug efforts in both countries, it would be a mistake to destroy drug crops and force starving farmers into the arms of the Taliban for insurgent wages.

The Taliban had outlawed growing poppies, made it a crime and enforced it.
The Ummah had no one to turn to. So Poppy eradication can be done.

But YOU have to be in CONTROL to enforce it, like the Taliban were.

The timing should be considered, on drug eradication programs.

Everyone is holding their breath to see if its all going to stack up like this.
It won't, there will be surprises and set backs.

But we must try and not trip over the "LAW of unintended Consequences."

Summary:
al Qaeda in Iraq is winding down.
Taliban: very heavy losses and under heavy pressure. And a new paradigm developing al Qaeda V.S. Taliban.***
Terrorist activities on the web have been dealt a very heavy blow.

Both al Qaeda and Taliban operating with 3rd and 4th tier cadre.
and under funded.
al Qaeda is being rejected by the Ummah and ratings for the Taliban are dropping among the Ummah also.
Most recent videos have been desperate attempts to try and breathe some life into the terrorists organizations.

They have gone from "issuing orders" to "suggestions" to "begging" and even APOLOGIES.

THEIR MOST RECENT EFFORT is their Internet Jahid against civilian targets, which is also doomed to failure.

The press need to recognize this story will also sell papers.

Toro Bora TRAP

GHAZNI, Afghanistan | The U.S. military received "credible reporting" of a sizable Taliban force at Tora Bora in eastern Afghanistan, leading to the latest offensive in that area, a top American general said Thursday.

Army Lt. Gen. Carter Ham, director for operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said in Washington that the number of enemy killed or captured so far in the operation by coalition and Afghan troops was "in the teens."

He said he was not aware of any high-value Taliban targets being found in the area and said the intelligence report did not indicate the presence of al-Qaida fighters.

On Wednesday, U.S. officials announced that hundreds of coalition soldiers had launched an offensive in Tora Bora targeting foreign fighters, whom they initially said included al-Qaida.

Al Qaeda Dislocates US Security Plan by Genocidal Massacre

	Yazidi victims of al Qaeda in Iraq

This time, Al Qaeda in Iraq selected a tiny, isolated, unprotected community of some 150,000 Yazidi Kurds, persecuted by Sunni and Shiite Muslims alike, as the victims of its barbarity. Tuesday, Aug. 14, within minutes, three oil tankers driven by suicide bombers had murdered at least 500 people, injured more than 1,000 and transformed an ancient indigenous Iraqi sect into a humanitarian problem.

While rescuers were still digging bodies out of the rubble of their destroyed homes in Qataniya and Adnaniya near Mosul, tens of thousands snatched their remaining belongings and streamed to the Syrian border.

Exchanges among al Qaeda’s adherents in Iraq 4, picked up by DEBKAfile’s special monitors, disclosed method behind the savagery. The jihadists had made an example of the Yazidis of Mt. Sinjar, holding them up as the first complete community they had succeeded in driving out of Iraq. They even urged harassing the refugees to speed the removal of every last Yazidi Kurd from Iraq.

Al Qaeda timed its brutal attack for maximum disruption of the latest American operations in the framework of the US-Iraqi overall Phantom Strike offensive to secure Iraq against insurgents and terrorists.

Lightning Hammer brought 16,000 US and Iraqi troops to the Diyala northeast of Baghdad province Aug. 14 to purge the area between Baquba and Balad and open up the main routes linking Baghdad to Kurdistan in the north for safe travel.

Marne Husky was launched the next day by 4,000 troops as an aviation-based offensive. Infantry drops by helicopter are targeting Sunni insurgents and terrorist sanctuaries in southeastern Baghdad and choking off bombs and weapons smuggling into the capital.

To defeat the US-led security campaign, al Qaeda appears to have opted for meting out death and destruction among large groups of civilians, aimed at forcing them out of their homes and causing hundreds of thousands of displaced people to wander hither and thither in search of safety, strangling communications and generating mayhem across the country. Blocked roads are intended to snarl the US offensives and compel the troops to turn to the immediate task of locating the deadly fuel trucks hurtling down the highways before they explode and inflict carnage.

DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources report that al Qaeda employed two revealing methods of operation this week:

1. Singled out as a soft targeted for the suicide bombers at the wheels of oil trucks was an isolated sect living in a remote community, which was easily accessible and unprotected by American or Iraqi forces or local security resources. The Yazidis live in communities of 5,000 to 20,000 which are clearly defined by religion and ethnic, tribal and clan kinship.

2. It looks as though Qaeda is bent on reusing its method of attack against the Yazidis for additional sections of the population – in particular the highly inflammable oil trucks driven by suicide bombers.

Intelligence source estimate that each the trucks operating against the Yazidi villages was packed with between 250 and 300 tons of explosives. Two reached their targets and blew up, while the third is believed to have exploded prematurely on the way. The force of the third blast was such that dozens of cars and buildings by the wayside were shattered and sent up flames visible to witnesses 2 kilometers away.

The war in Iraq is thus raging on two planes.

CAIRO, Egypt — Web sites usually used by Islamic militant groups announced a new, major Al Qaeda video would be released soon.

"Coming soon God willing? Wait for the big surprise," said an Internet banner Thursday next to a Web animation that shows photos Al Qaeda chief Usama bin Laden and some of his key deputies, along with pictures of U.S. President George W. Bush and Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan.

The advertisement for the forthcoming video was signed by As-Sahab, the multimedia branch of Al Qaeda, and was expected to be an important release on a major recent attack, two U.S.-based terrorism monitoring groups said.

AQ and the Taliban have the most forces in Patki, Patki has killed and captured more AQ than any one else, partly because that is where most of them are.

Assassination of Musharraf could lead to an attempted coup, or civil war.

The fight against Al-Qaeda and other Islamist groups is primarily an information war, leading counterinsurgency and counterterror officers believe -- one in which the U.S. is still lagging far, far behind. But after years of ignoring the problem, the Army may be starting to take this battle of images seriously; the service is working on a new "information operations" field manual, Inside the Army reports.

While it might be tempting to write this off as bureaucratic paper-shuffling, keep in mind: it wasn't until a similar counterinsurgency playbook was finalized that armed services began waging in earnest at a full-blown guerrilla-fighting campaign in Iraq.

The first step will be to revise the Army's main operations manual, FM 3-0, to address the "important business of influencing and informing populations -- both our own and in the area in which we operate," Training and Doctrine Command chief Gen William Wallace tells Inside the Army.

[That] in turn, would be used to craft a separate information operations field manual over the course of the next year.

... In fighting an insurgency, U.S. commanders on the ground in Iraq have recognized that, in addition to traditional intelligence, “information about the socio-cultural mosaic in their area of operation” is essential to military success, according to Paul Tiberi, director of the Army’s Information Operations Proponent.

Determining how the disparate groups interact and how various media “influence the perceptions, attitudes, beliefs and . . . behaviors of these peoples” could make or break the U.S. counterinsurgency effort, he added.

That shift in attitude can't come quick enough, one influential counterinsurgency officer tells DANGER ROOM.

"We still don't see or accept information as an element of power," he writes. "For the enemy, it is THE driving element."

Why? Because for modern, highly developed democracies the beliefs and opinions of their well-informed populations is their center of gravity. If you cannot simply overpower your opponent physically, then it is the will of the opponent that has to become the target. 100% available modern media is the avenue of approach that your "information bombs and missiles" travel along. [L]iving rooms of registered voters are the impact areas...

This newly emerged information element of power has the potential to do to highly developed modern democracies what conventional and nuclear weapons could not: compel them to quit. Which is exactly what is happening now.
