There have been 5 plots intercepted this year.

Part of the method is multiple screens,

Paradigm Intel report from DOD information

says its a system of screens, and every time

someone trips a screen, they move into a

higher level of surveillance.

The screens are devised to spot actions

only terrorist do, and in a particular sequence.

Someone buying a ton of fertilizer and travel

to Afghan would trigger a second look by

FBI agents.

The success of the program is in the details.

Many are flagged, but few trigger successive

flags.

The screens have been developed by detailed

profiles of caught terrorist.

Some times it minor things in a particular

sequence that starts them up the screening

process.

English-Language terrorist Forums, Blogs

Jihadists Broaden Reach by Launching English-Language Forums, Blogs

As part of their efforts to reach and influence non-Arabic-speaking audiences, Islamists have set up English-language pages on existing Arabic-language forums, and have also launched jihadist blogs in English. [1] An examination of the content of these forum pages and blogs suggests that they are aimed at various audiences in the West, inter alia to influence Western public opinion on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, to enlist support for jihad among Muslims living in the West, and even to encourage these Muslims to carry out martyrdom operations.

This report presents details on these websites and some examples of their content.

The Goals of the English-Language Forums and Blogs

Eroding Western Support for the War on Terror

One of the apparent goals of the Islamist forums and blogs in English is to erode support among the Western public for the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is done primarily by posting full translations of official communiqués by Afghani and Iraqi terrorist organizations - especially communiqués boasting of successful terrorist attacks, in which the numbers of Coalition casualties are often inflated. [3] Two examples of this are a September 2007 communiqué by the Al-Qaeda-founded Islamic State of Iraq (ISI), which claimed that 20 U.S. soldiers had been killed in a suicide attack in Diyala, [4] and a October 2007 message in which the ISI claimed to have killed 57 U.S. soldiers in another Diyala attack. [5] Such messages, which are very common on the English-language forums and blogs, are presumably meant to plant doubt in minds of Western citizens about the West's ability to win the war on terror.

jihadist networks, and several failed efforts to get into Iraq, as well as the successful ones
mentioned above. For example, Garzon found that “the Spanish network at the service of Ansar
al Islam (Al Qaeda) is also linked to the Moroccan Islamic Combat Group,” as shown by the
numerous telephone and e-mail contacts among different members.12 Likewise, the document
describes how, on January 22, 2005, one of the families in Spain received a telephone call to
confirm that one of their relatives had “just gotten married,” meaning he had successfully carried out a suicide attack in Iraq. The document notes that the news of the “wedding” was received with great happiness by the family.13 Other code words frequently used, according the
document, are “sick person” for someone who has been arrested; “hospital” for prison; “honey” for a bomb or money; and “clothes” for money, weapons or explosives.14

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Federal agents have arrested more than 1,300 suspected gang members, including 343 with violent criminal histories, in the past three months, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency said Tuesday

"Violent foreign-born gang members and their associates have more than worn out their welcome, and to them I have one message: good riddance," Julie L. Myers, assistant secretary of Homeland Security for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said in a news release.

Of those arrested, 374 face criminal charges, officials said. The rest face deportation, they said.

During the nationwide crackdown, immigration and customs agents worked with law enforcement counterparts in 23 cities in what officials described as a "summer surge."

The most arrests were made in the New York area (205) and Miami, Florida (160), but gang members were arrested in cities as small as Boise, Idaho, and Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Myers told a Washington news conference that some of "the worst of the worst" gang offenders had been taken off U.S. streets.

One of the gangs targeted has been MS-13, which is believed to be the fastest growing group in the United States as well as one of the most violent, the agency said.

The FBI estimates MS-13 has about 10,000 members in the country, along with tens of thousands in Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador, where the gang originated in the late 1980s.

"MS-13 still seems to be the primary gang and the most violent gang still out there, and it is penetrating throughout the United States," said Marcy Forman, director of investigations for the agency.

Don Hunter, sheriff of Collier County in southwest Florida, said MS-13 was present in what he called the "upscale" community.


"We are not unique, we have transnational gangs, we have homegrown gangs," Hunter told the news conference. But he said cooperation among federal and local agencies had made it possible to put a dent in gang operations.

The sweep was part of the agency's Operation Community Shield anti-gang initiative, which started in 2005, and has resulted in arrests of more than 7,000 alleged members and their associates from more than 600 gangs, the agency said.

Brigitte Gabriel, founder and president of the American Congress for Truth, recently had the opportunity to testify before Congress about her concerns on the Islamic threat. She told members that various terrorist groups al-Qaida, Hezbollah, and Hamas, among others, are working with the MS-13 gang in smuggling terrorists across the Mexican border into the United States.

"The MS-13 gang is bad news. They are thugs. They are murderers. They are as bad as the Islamic radicals. These guys do not think twice about killing. They will kill their own family members. And this is why they found a great ally in the terrorist organizations," says Gabriel.

FBI: "Catholic" MS-13 won't team up with Islamic terrorists!?!

If Michael Chertoff is confirmed as Department of Homeland Security chief, he'll have his hands full reconciling conflicting positions within the administration regarding reported gang-terrorist activity.

By now, many of us have heard of the reported link between El Salvadoran-based gang Mara Salvatrucha — MS-13 for short — and Islamic terrorists. (Michelle Malkin has good background here)

In this morning's 9am ET hour of Fox New Live, reporterette Alyson Camerota said an FBI source told the network it was implausible that radical muslims would align themselves with a predominantly Catholic criminal gang.

Are we to believe that MS-13 gangsters — criminals accused of raping handicapped girls and chopping off fingers with machetes — would never team up with Islamic terrorists for religious reasons?

Camerota later ran a bite from Homeland Security official John Torres saying his agency had no evidence of a MS-13-al-Qaeda connection.

Russian terrorist arrested in Lebanon

Only Vysotskiy, alias Abu Omran, has been taken into custody. According to NEWSru.com, Vysotsky was a student who coverted to Islam. Two Palestinians, Abu Khodr and Abu Mukhammed an-Nasrani, were detained with him.

According to Kavkazsky Uzel, Fatah el-Islam based in the Nahr el-Barid camp for Palestinian refugees, is made up of people from many Arab states, but the four Russian citizens are the first known non-Arab foreigners to be members of “Fatah” accused of such serious crimes.

Izvestiya.ru reports that the Lebanese Army began fighting with terrorists in the camp on 20 May in battles that have resulted in the deaths of 168 Lebanese soldiers and more than 220 fighters. Another 200 were been arrested.

The Russian Embassy in Beirut is attempting to verify the information.

“At the present time we don’t have any information about this matter. We are trying to get in touch with the office of the general procurator of Lebanon,” the Embassy’s Press Attaché Vladimir Cherepanov told journalists.
