On Monday, Dec. 29, Day 3 of Israel's Gaza operation, the spokesman said Iran had embarked on preparations for operations against Israel in line with the directives laid down by supreme ruler Ayatollah Ali Khameini in his speech Sunday.

In his speech, Khameini issued a fatwa calling on Muslims to stand up and defend Palestinians against Israel.

Iran activating its proxies

Iran is smartly playing its cards, using its main Sunni and Shiite proxy to create havoc in the region and de facto making it stronger. At this point, Iran’s next step is uncertain. But it is quite possible that Hezbollah will decide to open a second front against Israel. Also the destabilization operations against the Sunni regimes in the region hostile to the Islamic Republic are likely to continue unabated. At this point when it comes to terror, all roads lead to Tehran.
I wrote an article for the Middle East Times analyzing the current situation.

After the six-month truce with Israel expired on Dec. 19, Hamas decided, or perhaps was urged, to resume its attacks on Israel. Thus Hamas went on a rampage campaign, firing rockets at Israel to create terror and death among Israeli civilians.
As could be expected, Israel reacted the way most countries would when attacked, and to protect its population against a group it considers to be a terrorist organization.

A new war in the region is likely to benefit only one country: Iran.

Indeed, following the model of the summer 2006 war against Israel triggered by the capture of two Israeli soldiers by the Lebanese Shiite organization, Hezbollah, Iran would benefit with a new front opening up.

This time Iran is turning to using its Sunni arm, Hamas. Contrary to what a number of experts in the region profess, Sunni extremists and Shiite extremists have no problem joining forces against a common enemy and putting aside their age-old rivalries.

While Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, the founder of the Palestinian Resistance Movement, also known as Hamas, was still alive, he refused to Iran's advances time and again. Yassin was adamant not to engage the Shiites. After his death, Hamas became much more open to Tehran's advances. Recently, Iran has become Hamas' main bankroller and as such wants to have a say in what Hamas should or should not do.

Paki sources identified by appearance that the attackers in the photographs as being Punjabi (from NW India, E Pakistan).

Three terrorists were captured at the Taj Mahal Hotel: Ajmal Amir Kamal, a resident of Faridkot, Multan in Pakistan and two other Pujabi Pakistanis. The one Pujabi identifies himself as Salim the other refuses to identify himself. They all speak Urdu with a clear Punjabi accent.

A terrorist named Sahadullah during the Taj Mahal siege called India TV to make a statement and spoke with a clear Kashmiri accent.

They all claim to belong to Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Kamal said there were twelve of them, they had come in a merchant vessel, which dropped them at 10 miles out where they took an open fiber-glass boat to Mumbai.

Kamal is from Faridkot, Multan, Pakistan (not to be confused with Faridkot, Punjab, India).

Likely the merchant vessel sailed from Karachi, the ship has been boarded and searched.

We are seeking a time line of the attacks in the ( at least 10 ) locations to see if 12 men could have carried this out, reply in comment please. G

More on the merchant vessel:

It was actually the fishing

vessel Kuber, belonging to a fisherman from Porbander, Vinod Masani. The vessel was hijacked on the open sea on November 14th. It was discovered today moored 20 miles off Porbander and abandoned with the body of the dead captain aboard. It is suspected that the terrorists hijacked the Kuber, killed the crew except the captain who was forced to sail the boat to Mumbai, then the terrorist assault force launched the inflatable boats and the Kuber returned to waters off Porbander where the captain, Amarsing Naran was killed and the remaining terrorists left in a separate boat back to the Pakistani coast near Karachi.

Could the US Coast Guard have caught this?

It is believed that another merchant vessel was involved with the assault also.
The other vessel is the MV Alpha, a cargo trawler. It has been boarded and searched.

This opens a new page in terrorist attacks, a new paradigm.
Who would respond to an attack by a highly trained Military infantry unit from Pakistan, against unprotected, unarmed civilian targets?
This attack took weeks of recon, surveillance and planing.
This is new threat : Its like sending a US Marine Company in to attack
civilian hotels in a major US city. Unexpected, over whelming sneak attack
and beheading the counter terrorism forces.

The terrorist were wearing uniforms, and equipped almost as a heavy weapons squad.
With Machine guns and grenades, and explosives devices.
They decapitated the head of the anti terrorism unit for India.
As it turns out they were a soft target.

The Indian military have seized the ship they came from.

There maybe more surprises in store yet, hostages, and sleeper units?

Is a Swat team equipped to take on a Infantry heavy weapons squad?
I don't think so.

What US military units are equipped to take on such a team?
Where are they located, National guard units?
How long would it take to activate and deploy them?
Is New York's Hercules teams, even have the fire power
and numbers to handle this type of multiple attack?

railway Station, the Cafés and more locations. , a hospital and a highway leading to the airport and Assembly Hall. The terrorists fired indiscriminately against civilians, security elements, lobbed grenades.

The primary targets were American and British.

India attacks Pak for trying to enter peace deal with Taliban

United Nations, July 10 (PTI) Vowing to redouble its efforts to help Afghanistan as a response to the bombing of its embassy in Kabul, India has attacked Pakistan for trying to strike a deal with the local Taliban, saying such bargains" were undermining efforts to defeat terrorists in the war-ravaged country.

"Those who perpetrated this act and those who train and protect them and enable them to commit horrific acts of violence are no better than the basest criminals," India's United Nations Ambassador Nirpuam Sen told the Security Council in a hard hitting address.

India, he said, would not yield to those who commit these "barbaric acts" and to those responsible for "greater villainy of sheltering and enabling terrorists.

Four Indians, including a brigadier-ranked defence attache and an IFS officer, were among 41 killed in the suicide terrorist bombing on Monday.

"While mourning their loss, we believe we can best honour our fallen colleagues by redoubling our commitments to working with Afghanistan to secure stability and development of that country and consequently, in the region," Sen said.

Events on the ground, Sen emphasised, make it clear that that any listing of challenges before the Afghan people must begin with security.

"We cannot afford to slacken our resolve or our efforts in combating the forces of terrorism, extremism a crime wherever and in whatever forms these groups may take." It must be a collective effort, he said and in a veiled attack on Pakistan warned against sending mixed signals through "bargains for temporary a local peace while the rest of us contend with the consequences of such a deal." US Moves Aircraft Carrier to Support Afghan Operation

The U.S. military has moved an aircraft carrier from the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea to further support its operations in Afghanistan.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said Tuesday the Acting Commander of U.S. Central Command, Lieutenant General Martin Dempsey, made the decision in terms of available assets and where they could be most useful.

Gates said the move is part of the U.S. commitment to ensure that commanders have the resources available to be successful in Afghanistan over the long term.

Also Tuesday, unnamed U.S. Navy officials said the shift away from Iraq comes after the number of foreign troop casualties in Afghanistan topped those in Iraq for two consecutive months.

June was the deadliest month for foreign forces in Afghanistan since 2001, with at least 45 of them killed, compared with 31 in Iraq.

Meanwhile, NATO says one of its soldiers was killed and four others wounded Tuesday when a roadside bomb struck a convoy in the eastern province of Kunar.

Separately, in the central province of Ghazni, officials say at least two Afghan policemen were killed in fighting with Taliban insurgents. Five insurgents are believed to have died.

Afghan and international forces frequently clash with militants loyal to the Taliban, an extremist Islamist group that ruled Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001.

ISLAMABAD: About 3,000 Islamist women gathered at the radical Lal Masjid in the capital on Wednesday and vowed to raise their children for jihad, days after a suicide bomber killed 19 people after a similar rally on July 6. Chanting slogans of "jihad is our way", burqa-clad women, some carrying babies, listened to fiery speeches from the daughter of the mosque's jailed cleric on the eve of the anniversary of a raid on the complex in which more than 100 people died. "Our mujahideen laid down their lives for the enforcement of the Islamic system in Pakistan. We are left behind to carry forward their mission," the daughter of cleric Abdul Aziz told the tightly guarded rally in the mosque compound. Several thousand men had attended a similar rally on Sunday to mark the anniversary of the commando raid that ended a weeklong siege that had begun when gunmen from the mosque clashed with police. Shortly after the Sunday rally ended, a suicide bomber attacked policemen who had been guarding the gathering killing 19 people, all but four of them policemen. But there was no trouble on Wednesday as the cleric's daughter, who did not identify herself, told the crowd to steel their families for jihad. "We should prepare our children and men for jihad," she said. The crowd responded with shrill chants of "We are ready" and "Al jihad". The women present demanded, amongst others, a court trial of President Pervez Musharraf, reconstruction of the Jamia Hafsa, reopening of the Jamia Fareedia, release of Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Aziz and an end to the military operation in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. The organisers claimed around 5,000 women to have attended the five-hour conference but people present said the number did not exceed 3,000. We just reviewed an article in Pakti Forum ( which I have tried to subscribe/join PDF )
that gives way too much credit to USA's Government and their powers and organizational abilities. ( The author of "The Plan To Topple Pakistan Military", By AHMED QURAISHI, does not allow comments on his web site )

On a paranoia scale of 1 to 10, they are running around 15.
But with some good reasons, more on that later.

They see a conspiracy between the USA government and USA news agency's.
They are not thinking about Bill Clinton's cigar, and Nixon, or how half of the USA press is anti-government.

They are attributing USA news papers editorials to the USA government.

I would remind them that the worse the news makes of a situation the more papers they sell
( $$$ ), the USA government has no control over the news outlets, ie the New York Times reporting that the CIA was monitoring Binnys cell phone calls.

England's press is no friend to USA, look at the Guardian articles, no connection to Oxford Press.

And the USA diplomatic scramble when the 'emergency powers' were enacted and talking to
Mrs. Bhutto, would be normal protocol.

USA desires a strong Pakistani military to protect the Nukes, to the tune of $100 million USD and at arms length.

USA wishes Pakti would hit al Qaeda and the Taliban harder, but I don't think USA forces fully appreciate the Pashtoon connection among the Pakti people, YOU will have to live with the Taliban and you do need to come to some sort of agreement with them.

And I think the Pakti forces are underestimating the efforts of their neighbors to the East to run false flag ops.

Pervez Musharraf appearance on Comedy Central's 'Daily Show' with Jon Stewart gave him immediate respect in America, and showed him to be a World player, he gave as good as he got.
It showed his lack of fear and his ability to think on his feet, honesty and his confidence and classic sense of humor, which is very important in America as one of the Good guys.

Pakti is also suffering from the lack of a good 'Info WAR' capability, and whining and seeing conspiracy's instead of influencing opinion with facts and the Truth.
USA military also suffers from the same weakness in the 'Info WAR'.

A man hidding in a CAVE is winning the info war against the world.

Gen. Musharraf has demonstrated he is his own man again and again, while being an valuable and important ally.

I think Gen. Musharraf is using the correct mix or carrot and stick with the Taliban.
While the USA government wants to see the Taliban DEAD, Gen. Musharraf sees the long picture and the complicated interplay with in the Pashtoons.

The Pakti Military are in a very difficult position, negioating with the Taliban, al Qaeda trying to stop this and get nukes, the history with India, the Talibans and al Qaeda stealth border, Durand line and civil unrest which al Qaeda appreciates.

If India is supplying secret burst encrypted communications why are you not tracking them and seizing the equipment and exposing the conspiracy?

Everyone does contingency planning, in the case of Gen. Musharraf falling I'm sure there are contingency plans to work with whom ever takes over, short of the Taliban or al Qaeda.

But be sure these contingency plans are not for his down fall.
And it is reasonable for USA to be concerned about your Nuclear weapons if Gen. Musharraf does fall, or is assassinated. This is reasonable, and USA should have a plan to seize your nuclear weapons if the Taliban or al Qaeda does get control of Pakti.

USA has plans to take out any installation if al Qaeda should seize nukes any place in the world including the USA.

NGO's are not under the control of USA military, that would make them targets.

Be assured USA is your ally and appreciate your efforts in the GWOT even if they do complain.

To cast the USA as an adversary plays into the hands of your neighbors and is counter productive for Pakti. My advise would be that of our great statesman "Trust but verify".

Arrest of LTTE’s KP: Goof up or Cover up?

Media broke the news about KP’s arrest in Bangkok on Sep 10 and later picked up by all news agencies around the world. Sri Lanka took a sigh of relief and India desperately wanted to take him home for a trial. But all this euphoria died down when Thailand authority denied his arrest on the face of all media hype. KP is Kumaran Padmanadan (also, Tharmalingam Shanmughan), LTTE's point man for international arms procurement/ trafficking and a senior cadre involved in many high profile operations, including financing the assassination of a former Prime Minister of India. KP considered as the most important players within LTTE, next to chief V. Prabhakaran and Pottu Amman, head of its intelligence wing.

There is a possibility that Thai government is hiding something worthwhile now, even though they handed over three other Tamil Tigers to Lankan authority in August after they served jail terms for arms smuggling, since 2003. It is plausible that Thai govt. conveyed the news to Lanka but never thought that it would be blown to such proportions by the media which has now brought a third player, India into the whole episode. Fearing this could be interfering in the investigation process and that New Delhi would want KP to be extradited first, Bangkok authority now wished to deny the whole incident for the time being. One thing leading observers to believe that KP is in Thai custody much before the reported date of his arrest (does not matter if detained or arrested) because Sri Lanka Navy has successfully interdicted and sank three ships reportedly carrying LTTE’s arms in the high seas recently. Lankan Navy could not have achieved this success unless until they received concrete information on the shipments. A parallel can be drawn between both events. However, this speculation aside, KP’s arrest still remains a mystery, controversial and much awaited.

Once again, suspected Al Qaeda commanders claimed its presence in India, declaring jihad (Holy War) against the country and Kashmir as the gateway of Jihad against India' for the first time ever. In a video message, [received by a Jammu and Kashmir based local news agency Current News Service (CNS) on June 08], a masked man identified himself as Abu Abrahim Al Asim voiced the statement (in Urdu) on behalf of Abu Abdul Rehman Al Ansari, the suspected chief of the Al-Qaeda for India (Al-Qaeda-fill-Hind-AQH). Similar CDs were reportedly distributed byan unidentified man during Friday prayers at a Mosque at Gaw Kadal in Srinagar.

The content of the CD:

"America was trying to equip India with sophisticated arms and nuclear capability and Allah had already warned the Muslims against this unholy nexus among the infidels against the Muslims. America, Israel and other western nations in collaboration with India were trying to divide Kashmir to gain hegemony in the region and set up military bases in this region. We declare Jihad against India. Jammu and Kashmir shall be the gateway for such a Jihad."
