    PFC Bergdahl, Guest prisoner.

    PFC Bergdahl, Guest prisoner.

The Taliban released a new video of PFC Bergdahl.

The video is good news for his parents, as the contents
suggest the Taliban have found good use for a LIVE POW.
A possible replacement for the American Jew Adam Ghadam,
    which Muslims don't believe.

But we know the Taliban have no honor, so their word cannot
    be trusted.

Bergdahl was captured by a offer of hospitality from

some locals that turned out to be Taliban, and the Hospitality
was false, a lie a method to lure him to his capture.
As trust in the offer of Afghan hospitality the trooper,
Pfc. left behind his body armor, web gear, and weapon,
dressed as a local and went with them in a humvee,
    parking it near the village.

Of course the Afghan Taliban hospitality offer was with
out honor as it was a trap. And the Guest was taken prisoner.
    The Taliban have no honor.

At first they shaved his head and forced him to grow a beard.
In the time of the Spanish Inquisition they practiced something
called the showing of the Instruments, where they would show
the victim the instruments of torture.
Of course the Taliban have shown the instruments of torture
publicly in their videos, beheadings, cutting out tongues, even
a video of a 12 yr old boy beheading a man.
    The Taliban have no Honor.

So even before the PFC was captured he knew what awaited
him if captured, beheading like they have done so many times
    in so many disgusting videos.

Bergdahl's Stockholm syndrome conditioning started with
the Taliban beheading videos and has proceeded with his treatment
from the Taliban, he has fully identified with the captors as a method
    of self preservation.

Part of the new video is the Taliban's religious indoctrination for
its own troops as to why this POW was not to be killed as it was
    against the precepts of Islam.

We remember Polish man beheaded because of conflict with in the Taliban.
His beheading was do to conflicts within the Taliban, they seem to be
preempting this kind of screw up again.

Its interesting how the Taliban follow Islam only when it suits their
needs, as they are responsible for 400 + tribal leaders murdered
    for disagreeing with Taliban.
Al Qaeda and the Taliban have killed more Muslims than
    killed Americans.

Al Qaeda and the Taliban are waging a war against Islam
in support of Bin Ladens personality cult.

Taliban beheading , cutting tongues. out blowing up Mosques
even funeral processions and the Taliban killing Muslim women
and children in their market places bombings. All against Islam.

And the Taliban's new BIG LIE, trying to blame America and
Blackwater for the children the Taliban themselves kill.
    The Taliban have NO HONOR.

The PFC was Not water boarded, dog bites but
the Taliban are holding their GUEST prisoner and have beheaded
    others in same position.

"Treated him as a Guest" but subject to beheading at any time.

PFC is not responsible for any statements he makes, the statements
are from a GUEST the Taliban are holding prisoner under threat of death,
even if its unsaid, it is understood by the PFC.
May Allah be with him during his time with the Taliban, Satans hand in
    Afghanistan.Taliban, Men without honor..

    Videos :
This was his first video 5 months ago.

This was his first video 5 months ago.
He was worried about the beheading part
here. I took them 5 months to bring him
to the state you see below.

    We are being Data Mined.

    We are being Data Mined.
We run our own algorithms against our logs.
And several months ago we spotted the data
    mining operation.
The thing that concerned us was the covert
    element to the operation.

They were trying to hide their activities.
We don't mind the data mining, but the
method and covert aspects confused us.

As soon as the algorithms disclosed the DM

    To Take down or suffer

Countries in which Islamist terrorist attacks ...Image via Wikipedia

To Take down or suffer the slings, arrows and IEDs..
By Gerald Internet Anthropologist Think Tank

The paradigm on terrorist web sites is currently up side down.
The question revolves around leaving the sites up for intel collection
or taking them down blocking recruitment. Our analysis follows.
    HERE IS THE DISCUSSION. G

The Internet has played a key role in radicalizing a number of key players in alleged terror plots this year. From Fort Hood accused shooter Nidal Hasan to the five young Americans detained in Pakistan this month allegedly en route to fight U.S. forces in Afghanistan, authorities claim the suspects needed no face-to-face contact with jihadist recruiters. Instead, the Internet is serving as an electronic funnel for extremists to infuse U.S.-based Muslims with a justification for jihad.

On one side are military theorists such as John Arquilla of the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California, who believe that driving militant Islamists off the web would destroy their ability to carry out jihad. But scholars such as Chris Boucek, of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, maintain that defeating online jihad won't happen by shutting down websites — they say the best antidote to jihadist websites is countering their arguments for killing with better-reasoned Islamic logic.

"Instead of thinking of cyberspace principally as a place to gather intelligence, we need to elevate it to the status of 'battlespace,'"

"This means that we either want to exploit terrorists' use of the Web and Net unbeknownst to them, or we want to drive them from it." Arquilla tells TIME that al-Qaeda doesn't "put people on planes anymore because they know we're good at spotting them, and if we take away cyberspace we would achieve a crippling effect on the global terror network."

But Arquilla's logic doesn't add up, counters Evan Kohlmann of the non-profit NEFA Foundation, created following 9/11 to track Islamic terrorism. Shutting down jihadist web sites "would be like firing cruise missiles at our own spy satellites," he argues, referring to the intelligence the U.S. and its allies glean from such sites.

"If you shut down one of their websites today, they have a complete copy elsewhere and can put it up on a new server and have it up tomorrow," Kohlmann says. Such websites are the only window the rest of the world has into al-Qaeda and other such groups. "If you start shutting down the websites," he adds, "it's like chopping up a jellyfish — you end up with lots of little pieces that are very difficult to monitor." Kohlmann believes that the websites are a treasure trove of valuable intelligence, most of which is being overlooked by the U.S

instead of trying to blow up al-Qaeda's websites, it may make more sense to battle their ideology online with better arguments. "We're talking about a movement that's based on ideas and grievances, so we need to understand those ideas and grievances," Boucek says. "Failing to engage in debate on those issues means we're ceding all of that to them, and that makes no sense to me."

    Both sides can be accommodated.
Before the Internet terrorist could not recruit like they do now,
or spread their lies so far and wide.
There are a few key terrorist sites that if
taken down would make a very serious dent in their recruiting.

    ( List at end of post.G )

And there is a need to present the truth to the terorist lies.
But you can't do it on most terrorist sites, they limit there
membership, so if you are not a member you can't post.
And the few that are open if you do post counter propaganda
truthful informatoin you get banned and your posts deleted.
We've been ther done that, G.

Now about the part of the sites poping back up,
it just isn't that easy, if your a web master you know
the work and love you pour into your site,
And one cannot just "pop it back up".

You start over and your readers won't know your
new URL, SO EVERY TIME YOUR TAKEN DOWN
    YOU LOOSE READERS.

And its a real pain in the ass, not to mention waste
of hours of work to try and reconstuite a downed
web site. Its just drudge work...
And while they are spending hours and hours putting
the site back up, "they" aren't doing other things.

But there does need to be a huge effort to counter
the Terrorist lies on the web. And right now that
water is being carried by the civilians.

Yes take down the terrorist web sites, and also
promote anti-propaganda at a key Islamic portal
    site yet to be created.

And taking out the Jadie sites helps in the SysAdmin programs, as it would cut out alot of the propaganda lies.

Taking out Jahiddie and terrorist sites is a big
move towards preventing the bastardization of Islam
for the Terrorist twisted cult of al Qaeda.

The goal here should be to shut down recruiting,
    not collecting Intel.

    Intel collection paradigm:
The more sites you have the more Intel to be collected.
And the more recruiting and members they get.
    This paradigm increases terrorist growth.

    Shutting down sites prevents recruiting,
    decreasing terrorist growth.

Evan Kohlmann seems to be presenting the Intelligence communitys view of the Paradigm to track the wana be terrorists, but there is needed a balance between tracking the recruiting and stopping the recruiting.

Evan Kohlmann Link  of the non-profit NEFA Foundation, created following 9/11 to track Islamic terrorism. Shutting down jihadist web sites "would be like firing cruise missiles at our own spy satellites," he argues, referring to the intelligence the U.S. and its allies glean from such sites. ( BUT THE SPY SATELLITES DON'T SPAWN TERRORIST, IF THEY DID, WE WOULD SHOOT THEM DOWN, NOT JUST TRACK THE NEW TERRORIST THEY CREATED. G )

Evan goes on: "Besides, it can't be done. "If you shut down one of their websites today, they have a complete copy elsewhere and can put it up on a new server and have it up tomorrow,", Not true, I suspect Evan has never been a webmaster, or  tried to recreate a website, or loose surfers from a change of URL. The difficulties are myriad, it pisses off the webmasters and hurts moral. OH the PAIN.

View from the OTHER: Usually it takes 4 days to put up a new site, but to what end, it just gets taken down again, futile, FRUSTRATING time wasting activity.

Evan says "If you start shutting down the websites," he adds, "it's like chopping up a jellyfish — you end up with lots of little pieces that are very difficult to monitor." I disagree with him here, its more like cutting off an arm, then a leg, fewer followers, the sites get smaller and smaller with each reincarnation.

Misses the point: And this, of course, does not even take into account the myriad of freedom of speech and civil liberty issues that would inevitably arise if the U.S. government was to start blacking out independent websites on the basis of content. And what about YouTube, which allegedly has served as the point of contact for Taliban recruiters looking for American volunteers -- are we planning on shutting them down, too?

Well we do have a paradigm for this, Kiddie Porn, has no freedom of speech and civil liberty issues and neither should terrorist sites. And YOUtube is able to remove all the boobies from YOUTUBE but the fail at terrorism videos?

It feels like the Intelligence collection guys are running things at YOUTUBE.  (Terrorist friendly

Someone needs to decide, what they want: "to track and discover the new rectuits" or "shut down the new recruiting"?

    Iranian regime intentions

Saddam Hussein in Cairo after fleeing there fo...Image via Wikipedia

    UPDATED: 12.23.09

    Iranian regime intentions
    Copyright 2007 Los Angeles Times

One of the givens of the Middle East's dense diplomacy is Shiite Iran's enduring hostility toward the Taliban, the radical Sunni movement whose fall from power in 2001 was welcomed nowhere as much as in Tehran.

"It is better for Iran if America is entangled in Afghanistan with the Taliban," said Abulfazl Amooei, a political analyst for the Hamshahri diplomatic magazine, which closely reflects the views of Iran's Islamic hard-liners.

For years, Iran's power in the Middle East was held in check through a combination of U.S. sanctions and a long war in the 1980s with Saddam Hussein's Iraq, whose regime received aid from the United States and Sunni Arab nations that feared the growing influence of the Islamic Republic and the potential expansion of its hard-line theological revolution.

( Then USA took out Iraq and the Taliban? Two of Iran's biggest enemys.
Iran was just barely able to fight Iraq to a stand still after 7yrs,
USA took Iraq in a couple of weeks, and Iran is scared. G)

Just as worrying for Sunni Arab governments in the Middle East, Ahmadinejad's tough talk against the U.S. and Israel has won Iran unexpected and growing popularity in the Sunni Muslim world. Tehran now sees itself poised to become the dominant power broker in the Mideast and deeper into Asia.

....we should admit that Iran, bearing in mind the circumstances in the region, is not satisfied if the Taliban is totally banished from Afghanistan. And the status quo in Afghanistan is the best for our foreign policy," said Amooei, the political analyst.

Mohammad Kazem Anbarlouee, former head of a conservative Islamic faction in the parliament and editor of Resalat, a hard-line newspaper, described Iran's strategy in Afghanistan as a delicate balancing act between two enemies: the Taliban on the one hand, and the U.S....

Hamidreza Babaei, a deputy speaker of Iran's parliament:
"We regard the American administration as our enemy. We also regard the Taliban as our enemy.

That was 2007 lets look at today:

Iran's president on Tuesday dismissed a year-end deadline set by the Obama administration and the West for Tehran to accept a U.N.-drafted deal to swap enriched uranium for nuclear fuel. The United States warned Iran to take the deadline seriously.

Ahmadinejad's remarks underscored Tehran's defiance in the nuclear standoff - and also sought to send a message that his government has not been weakened by the protest movement sparked by June's disputed presidential election. He spoke a day after the latest opposition protest by tens of thousands mourning a dissident cleric who died over the weekend.

The international community can give Iran "as many deadlines as they want, we don't care," Ahmadinejad said in a speech to thousands of supporters in the southern city of Shiraz.

"We told you that we are not afraid of sanctions against us, and we are not intimidated," he said, addressing the West.

In Paris, Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said the chances of finding a diplomatic solution to the nuclear standoff with Iran were "never very significant" and that in the "worst case," France will bring up the issue of new sanctions on Tehran.
( Geeze, France's "worst case" is sanctions? Guess their not going to bomb. G )

Under the deal brokered by the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency last month, most of Iran's low-enriched uranium would be shipped abroad, where it would be enriched further to produce fuel rods. The rods would then be returned to Iran for use in a research reactor in Tehran, but it would not be possible to enrich them further to a high enough level to build a bomb.

Pull strings get a Bank Bailout

    Federal Reserve DistrictsImage via Wikipedia
Lobbying, political expenses coincided with Bank bailouts.

NEW YORK, Dec 21 (Reuters) - U.S. banks that spent more money on lobbying were more likely to get government bailout money, according to a study released on Monday.
Banks whose executives served on Federal Reserve boards were more likely to receive government bailout funds from the Troubled Asset Relief Program, according to the study from Ran Duchin and Denis Sosyura, professors at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business.

Banks with an executive who sat on the board of a Federal Reserve Bank were 31 percent more likely to get bailouts through TARP's Capital Purchase Program, the study showed.

Those banks included Goldman Sachs Group Inc (GS.N), JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM.N), and Morgan Stanley (MS.N), Bank of America Co (BAC.N) and Citigroup Inc (C.N) .

a watchdog for the government's bailout, the special inspector general for TARP, said last month that the broader $700 billion bailout program "almost certainly" will result in an overall loss for taxpayers.

    One got through.

    One got through.

Nice set up, got thru fire wall,
    past anti-virus, and two scanners.

Set off no penetration or security
    alarms.

    PARADIGM INTEL
    Picked it up,
    We run significant demographic analysis
on logs, and other anomaly testers.

    The paradigm intel really pissed
me off, our security systems didn't
    pick it up.

This freak statistic kept coming up
and staring me in the face.
Time and time again over a period
    of a few hours.

And paradigm intel said we had
a rootkit on one of our front line
    PCs.

After 8 hrs of scans and tests,
I was able to ID it. It got orders
    from a bot net.

    Our anti-key logger had been
stopping it from sending any out
    going pakets, but wasn't reporting
it, it was in the logs.

    Security has gotten so complicated,
when all the switches aren't set right
your security system can be blocking
attacks without you even knowing it.

Paradigm Intel also spotted the Ghost
riders we had a while back I posted
    about.

The rootkit had a key logger and was
tracking my movement on the web,
and was using a key operating program
to try and monitor my activities.

My Grandfather used to say "Security
is like living in a vice, the tighter it is
the more security you have and the
    less freedom you have."

Its not an easy balance between
security and ease of use on the
    PC.

On our XPs 40% of the CPU
    use is just security programs
    running.

If you really tighten up security
then small usefull things quit working.

We have achieved a balance of sorts.
Hot data, intel is printed, as printing
strips any possibility of passing any thing
    bad in a printed form.

And ORC is used to reconstitute the
printed works back into a computer file
and saved on a PC that has had internet
    connections welded shut. You can't
    connect it to Internet.

The data is then deleted to NSA standards
    from the front line PC.

Every thing is cleaned up now, and we
start on the back tracking to prime user.

Now the Fun ensues we were attacked.

Health Care bill clears key Senate test

Landmark health care legislation backed by President Barack Obama has passed its sternest Senate test, overcoming Republican delaying tactics on a 60-40 vote that all but assures its passage by Christmas.

Bin Laden is a legit Bastard:

Bin Laden is a legit Bastard:
Unmarried mother: He was born out of wedlock.

UBL's father, Mohammed bin Laden (1908 – 09/03/67), arrived in Latakia, Syria, 1956, on business.  He may have married A'alia Ghanem (born 1934, Shia Alawite tribe, 2 brothers, 1 sister) as his 10th of 22 wives.  They had one son, Osama (UBL), born Riyadh, KSA, 03/10/57.  UBL was Mohammed’s 17th of 24 sons and 31 daughters.  UBL and his mother moved to Medina 6 months later and continued to live together in the Hejaz area of western KSA until she remarried.  Then UBL lived in his father’s palace.
UBL has stated that it was "not a Koranic union", that A'alia was only Mohammed’s maid and concubine and that they were never married (she was referred to by the other wives as “the slave”).
Note: UBL and his father never had more than four wives at once, in line with Sharia law.  The others were divorced to make room in their harems for new wives, or were simply child-bearing concubines.

THEY called her 'slave' to make the bastards birth not a crime for his father under Sharia law.

    OBL Bio. updated, 12.19.09

From our source inside the beltway.

This is the most up to date bio on UBL,  Wikipedia needs updating.

    G

UBL’s grandfather was Awad bin Laden from Tarim, Yemen, a Hadhrami.  Died 1919.

At the age of 9, UBL became boyhood friends with the future King Fahd’s sons Crown Prince Abdul Rahman (currently 2nd in line for King) and Crown Prince Abdul Aziz.

A'alia (renamed Hamida) and UBL often spent summers in Latakia at her brother Naji’s home.

In 1967 UBL’s father died in an airplane crash and UBL inherited $300 million and moved in with his mother at her home in Tabuk for a few months until returning to Jedda to live with his uncle and siblings.

In 1968 UBL began to attend the elite prep school, Al Thagher Model School, Jedda (graduated 1976).  By 15, UBL was an increasingly committed schoolyard Islamic activist, a prominent member of a group led by a Syrian teacher influenced by the Muslim Brotherhood.
UBL was an adherent until the mid 1980’s. UBL moved back in with his mother in early 1973 after she permanently moved back to Jedda.

At 17, busy attending to the family business and his studies, UBL stopped accompanying his mother on her yearly visits to Latakia, except in 1974 to marry his first cousin, 14-year-old Najwan Ibrahim Ghanem. (AKA Najwa, AKA Umm Abdullah).  The Ghanem’s never saw any of his wealth, his aunts and uncles still farm along the Syrian coast.
UBL and wife lived with his mother and attended King Abdulaziz University from 1976 to 1979, uncertain graduation.

He did visit the US in 1978 for medical treatment for his son Abdullah.
Starting in 1979 UBL followed his college lecturer Abdullah Yusuf Azzam to Peshawar, Pakistan to assist the Afghan resistance to the Soviet invasion.

By 1984, with Azzam, bin Laden established Maktab al-Khadamat to funnel money and fighters to Afghanistan.  UBL brought his family to Peshawar and Kandahar from 1985 on and split with Maktab al-Khadamat in 1988 and established al Qaeda.

He returned to Jedda, KSA in 1989, a hero.

UBL and family were expelled by the KSA in April, 1991, moving to Afghanistan, then Khartoum, the Sudan from 1992 until 1996, where he set up legitimate businesses including a tannery, two large farms, and a major road construction company.

By January 1994, UBL set up at least three terrorist training camps in North Sudan and paid for 480 Afghan vets to work with him.  On 04/09/94 the KSA revoked UBL’s citizenship and froze his assets.

In 1995 UBL established training bases in northern Yemen.

In May of 1996 UBL and family were expelled from the Sudan, moved back to Kandahar, Afghanistan where Najwa lived after splitting up with UBL in 2001.

On 08/23/96 UBL declares jihad on the US and KSA.

    Wives and 21 offspring:
UBL’s 11 children by Najwa: Abdullah (1976), Abdul Rahman (1978), Sa’ad (1979), Osman (1980), Omar (1981), Muhammad (1983), Fatima (1984), Ahmed, and 3 younger daughters. Najwa now lives in Damascus, Syria.

Umm Hamza, born 1950, married UBL in 1982; they have a son Hamza, born in 1990.  She is from the Sabar family, Jedda, KSA.  She has a PhD in child psychology, and is a lecturer at King Abdulaziz University.
Umm Khaled and UBL have a son Khaled and a daughter Kadija (1986) and two other daughters.  She has a doctorate degree, private tutor, lives in Medina, KSA.  She lived in Pakistan until 2002.
She is Afghan, the daughter of Mullah Omar.  This marriage helped cement the protection UBL gets from the Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Umm Ali married UBL in Jedda, 2003; they have a son Ali (1988) and two daughters.
She divorced UBL in 1994 and lives in Mecca, KSA.
Amal al-Sa’ada, born in 1983 at Sa’ad, Yemen, married UBL in 2000 (picked out by Najwa); they have a son and daughter.
The marriage was intended to boost recruitment in Yemen and create a safe place for UBL should he need to leave Pakistan.  Arrested and released in Yemen in 2002 after a gun battle at her father’s compound.

    Children:

Abdullah has not disowned his father, shuns publicity and works in the Saudi Binladin Group.  He also owns and operates Fame Advertising on Falasteen Street in Jedda, KSA.

Abdul Rahman was born hydrocephalic ( Water on the Brain ) and is mildly retarded.  He lost his Saudi nationality and lives in Syria.

Sa’ad bin Laden (born 1979) was named by UBL as heir to AQ (10/03).  He operated out of Iran (from 2002 until 07/06), Syria, and Pakistan (since 12/08), married a Yemeni (01/01).
Osman married the daughter of a high-ranking member of al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya, a terrorist group dedicated to overthrowing the Egyptian government.

Muhammad may also be the heir apparent to AQ.  Muhammad married daughter of Mohammed Atef 01/01 at Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Fatima married a Saudi fighter at age 12, in 1996.  He died in the air attacks on Afghanistan on August 20, 1998.  She is remarried to Mullah Omar. This marriage helped cement the protection UBL gets from the Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

    Iran winning on Nuke issue

    PSA: DEBKA

US president Barack Obama's tough talk of sanctions has melted into soft soap for luring Iran into further dialogue. Adopting the reverse tactic, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sounds almost reasonable for a change, even as Tehran pushes its revolutionary goals as pugnaciously as ever.
DEBKAfile's Washington sources disclose Saturday, Dec. 19 that official US warnings that Washington's patience is running out and tough sanctions are imminent are no more than a smokescreen for three major steps embarked on by the Obama administration in the last four days for dragging out sanctions and setting back military action against Iran's nuclear facilities.
Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu gave the US president another six months for diplomacy without the threat of military action when they met at the White House November 9. The first six months' grace runs out at the end of Dec. 2009. The second ends in mid-2010. Netanyahu was backed up by defense minister Ehud Barak who said Monday, Dec. 14: "There is still time for diplomatic action to stop Iran.”
Using the respite, our sources report that the US president offered three inducements for tempting Tehran to call off its military program:
    1. Whereas Tuesday, Dec. 15, Congress approved penalties for firms selling Iran gasoline and the insurance companies underwriting its sale, the following day, the influential senator John Kerry announced through his spokesman Frederic Jones that the Foreign Relations Committee, which he heads, "needs time to consider the bill."
    2. Friday, Dec. 17, Pentagon spokeswoman Tara Rigler announced a six-month delay in deploying the precision-guided, 30,000-pound Massive Ordnance Penetrator or "bunker buster" bomb (developed specifically for the nuclear facilities Iran and North Korea have sunk deep under ground).
"Funding delays and enhancements to the planned test schedule have pushed the capability availability date to Dec. 2010," she announced.
Only five months ago, in August, the US Air Force announced that the 15-ton bomb for delivery by B-2 stealth bombers had been funded and would be ready for service in July 2010.
Washington is thus offering Tehran another six months to play with, free of threat of sanctions and safe from the bombardment of its subterranean nuclear facilities.
    3. Over the weekend beginning Friday, Dec. 18, Israeli newspaper correspondents briefed by administration officials ran stories denigrating Mossad director Meir Dagan as the only Israeli official hold-out on the need to attack Iran. He is presented as being in the grip of a fixation detrimental to his handling of other key issues. One editorial advised the Israeli government to learn to live with a nuclear-armed Iran.
But the Obama administration's lures had at least one result: Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, speaking from the Copenhagen climate conference, said:
"Everything is possible, 400 kilos, 800 kilos, it's nothing," for enrichment abroad, "but not in a climate where they threaten us. From the outset, delivery of 1,200 kilos of uranium was not a problem for us, but if they believe they can wave a stick to threaten us, those days are over. They have to change their vocabulary to respect and legality."
While preaching to others about sticks, the Iranian president must have thought the big sticks Tehran waved in the last four days alone were invisible.
Wednesday, Dec. 12, Tehran launched an improved Sejil 2 missile which DEBKAfile's military sources confirm is capable of penetrating US and Israeli anti-missile defense shields and defying their interceptors, although US and Israeli sources were at pains to play down its capabilities. Those sources report that Sejil-2 is loaded with electronic chips used as decoys to mislead the electronic systems of the Israeli Arrow 2 and the US Patriot, Aegis and THAAD anti-missile missile systems.
Only last week, furthermore, Tehran signed a new military pact with Syria, roping in the Lebanese Hizballah and Palestinian Hamas as second-strike wielders; Wednesday, the "Iranian Cyber Army" hacked into Twitter and filled its home page with anti-US slogans; for most of December, Iran-backed Yemeni rebels have kept Saudi and government forces on the run and, Friday, Iranian soldiers seized control of an Iraqi oil well in a disputed border region.
All the same, Obama's beckoning gestures and Ahmadinejad's smooth response indicate a fresh round of talks will be explored between the 5P+1 bloc (five Security Council permanent members plus Germany) and Iran before sanctions are broached or either the US or Israel resort to military action against Iran's nuclear facilities.
This means that Washington's determined ultimatum to Iran to comply with its international obligations by the end of 2009 has been extended by a whole year - an extra six months granted by Israeli up to June 2010 and another six months which President Obama tagged on himself in order to further delay an Israeli attack on Iran.
By then, it will all be over: Tehran will have attained a nuclear weapon plus the means of delivery.
Saturday, an Iranian military spokesman declared: "Our forces are on our own soil, and based on the known international borders this well belongs to Iran."
It is not hard to imagine how Tehran will comport itself once it has "the bomb."

BOLTON: Well, I'll just underline the reason to be alarmist. If the rest of the world sees that North Korea can keep its nuclear weapons, they see that Iran is capable of defying United States and getting nuclear weapons, they see Hugo Chavez still completely unplugged and growing closer and closer to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's Iran -- let's not forget Venezuela has its own uranium deposits -- then the lesson, I think, for would-be proliferators around the world is clear. You can get nuclear weapons, and the United States and others will not act to stop you.
And if those constraints don't have any force, then I think we're going to see a lot more countries with nuclear weapons, and I think that raises the risk of global instability by an enormous factor.
