Clashes erupt in North Waziristan Local Taliban reject permanent ceasefire

MIRANSHAH: Clash between security forces and local Taliban resumed in North Waziristan, a day after when the army allowed tribesmen to bury their loved ones. Rejecting the impression of permanent ceasefire, the local Taliban have confirmed death of their 20 colleagues in four days fierce fighting and threatened to intensity attack if army did not halt attacks on civilian. Political authorities said that the Taliban equipped with automatic weapons launched attack and fire rockets at Amin, Banda and Gora graveyard checkposts of security forces on night between Thursday and Friday in Miranshah, BBC reported. The security forces retaliated and fired arterially shell. However, no loss of life was reported from both sides in the attacks. Two security personnel were wounded when their vehicle coming from Bannu to Miranshah hit with a landmine in area of FR Baka Khail. The injured were shifted to Bannu Hospital where they are in stable condition, hospital sources said. On the other hand, a tribal jirga on the request of local administration is trying its level best for ceasefire. The personnel of local administration under leadership of former National Assembly member Maulana Naik Zaman held the jirga, however, the administration did not tell anything about outcome of the meeting. Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Ahmed Ullah Ahmadi said according to the decision of Taliban Shoora we are not ready for permanent ceasefire in the North Waziristan. He made it clear if the government did not halt attack on civilians then attack on security forces will be intensified. If Government wants to show its power then it should face Taliban in open ground instead of attacking civilian, he demanded. source

Al Jazeera filmed a group of about 50 Taliban fighters travelling unhindered in NowRoz-Abad, in Tagab.

However, Al Jazeera's producer travelled with the Taliban for five hours in Tabag district and saw no sign of Afghan or American forces.

While filming, a young boy appeared and told the Taliban he had seen some Americans - five Humvees nearby.

A ripple of excitement spread through the group and Oji Mullah ordered his men to move out to prepare and attack.

A video of the child recruits was posted this month on an al-Qaeda website which has attracted ten million visitors since 2003.

Experts believe it was shot at a Taliban training camp over the border from Afghanistan in Uzbekistan.

The camp is almost certainly run by the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan — which is affiliated to al-Qaeda.

An accompanying message claims they are the next generation of Mujahideen fighters in training.
