    FBI. Agent Andrew Nambu, GENIUS

    MEHANNA jahiddie:

    FBI. Agent Andrew Nambu, GENIUS.
By Gerald Internet Anthropologist Think Tank
( sub-title: Jahiddies, MEHANNA obsessed, with
    cleaning Binny's toilet??? G )

I don't often use the word Genius when
talking about the FBI, but this guy is really
good. And so are JEFFREY AUERHAHN and
    ALOKE CHAKRAVARTY
    Assistant U.S. Attorneys, Genius team.

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

From Jawa Report:Boston Blogger Assisted al Qaeda in Iraq
A document produced by the AG's office in support of keeping would-be jihadi Tarek "Abu Sabaya" Mehanna in jail pending trial is a treasure trove of information on how the fifth columnists among us think. Even more importantly, the tone of the lengthy paper give me hope that some in the federal government finally get the online jihad.
    SOURCE:

    XXXXXXXXXXXXX

In his "GOVERNMENT’S PROFFER AND MEMORANDUM IN SUPPORT OF DETENTION" he gives the blueprint for required evidence to take down
    an Internet Jahiddie perp.

And it gives a remarkable inside view of the Jahiddies psyche and thought
    process, motivations and C2.

In a dentention and bond hearing some hearsay is acceptable, its not a trial but a decision process for discovering if the perp is a threat or flight risk.

And there in lies the insiders view, we are the fly on the wall.

    Excerpts from same.

It would be error to see the actions of the defendant as
only involving inchoate crimes of conspiracy -- or attempt (as
evidenced by inter alia his trip to Yemen in 2004). As discussed
herein and established by his own actions and words, the
Defendant did in fact provide significant material support to al
    Qa’ida and other terrorist groups.

“Material support” by providing translation services
and distributing material intended to inspire others to
    participate in violent jihad.

    .............material support to al
Qa’ida and other terrorist organizations by translating and
distributing videos and text that were intended to inspire others
    to participate in jihad.

Abu Mundhir then bragged that others had recognized their
efforts on behalf of al Qa’ida (“aqs”), and that they were
already recognized as al Qa’ida’s “English Wing”: Abu Mundhir:
“were [sic: we’re] bait alrady [sic: already] aqs [al Qa’ida]
english wing ... were [sic: we’re] known.

( Two or three punks translate propaganda to promote violent
jihad and they get reconized as al Qaeda's "English wing" .
Its a good example of how one guy puts up a flag and declares himself
an army. Extreme propaganda, exaggerations, and delusions of grandeur.G )

    MEHANNA: dude ... 39 is done and PDF'd ... do u need
to check it before it's released?
Abu Mundhir: uhm no not really lol
MEHANNA: ok .so Ibn U has the green light?
    Abu Mundhir: yeah

Abu Mundhir: ok i showed ... one brother the cover ... he
loved it ... he said it reminded him of ...
like anarchist ... cook book18 ... or omein
    [sic] kempf19 ... lol

... we got our stuff pinned on big forums.” In addition to
bragging about the impact they were having, the also expressed
their reverence for al Qa’ida’s leaders:
Abu Mundhir: take a look ... at those 2
MEHANNA: ya u sent me those this morning
Abu Mundhir: yeah its different ... though they pinned ...
them now ... and people making duaa [tr.
prayer] for us ... in the threads ... one guy
    said
    MEHANNA: Sweetness
Abu Mundhir: we are aqs [al Qa’idah] in raafidayn [Iraq]
    ... media wing21 ... hehe
MEHANNA: man, I don't think ... we deserve that title
    Abu Mundhir: yeah
MEHANNA: maybe ... if we are lucky ... we get to clean
    their toilets

Abu Mundhir: lol ... yeah ... i was ... actually
discussing ... this with a brother ...i was
telling me i would be the happiest man in the
world if ... the old man [Usama bin Laden]
... just let me hang around him ...and clean
    ... his toilet ... wallah

    MEHANNA: heh
    Abu Mundhir: love that guy
MEHANNA: dude ... This morning ...while I was trying
to stay awake in class ...I was thinking to
myself ... imagine how ...like, reporters
from al-Jazirah [al Jazeera22] must have felt
... waiting for Hadrami [someone from an area
of Yemen]23 to come out ... and start the
interview ... like, thinking to themselves:
"I am about to interview al-Hadrami."
    Abu Mundhir: haha
    MEHANNA: I'd like
    Abu Mundhir: yeah
    MEHANNA: wet my pants
Abu Mundhir: lol ... akhee ... imagine ...the reporter
...who has to report ... from Z ... now that
guy ... will wet his pants

It goes on 75 pages, a great read.
    HERE.
    ( JEFFREY AUERHAHN and
    ALOKE CHAKRAVARTY
Assistant U.S. Attorneys nice work guys. G )

The jahiddies act and feel like boy scouts working on a merit
badge, while in actuality they are supporting al Qaeda
and encouraging Muslims to kill women and children
in bombings of Mosques and market places,
    promoting al Qaeda type jahid.

While their effort was minimumal it reached
    thousands.

Using the Internet to its maximum force multiplier
    effect.

The flip side is the ease in taking down these,
wings and media battalions, which are in actuality
    just a few kids.

Taking down a dozen or so of these guys
would put a big crimp on the online
jahiddie stuff, and discourage many of them.

Be sure they are as serious threat as a bomber,
    as their actions recruit bombers,

    GENIUS WORK, TERRORISM VS ISLAM

Don't credit Al-Qaeda by assuming it offers Muslims hope
By Aysha Chowdhry and Andrew Masloski
    Commentary by ( gERALD )
    Monday, February 25, 2008

Notably absent from the presidential primary campaign in the United States is serious discussion on how to implement an effective long-term strategy for protecting the US from future terrorist acts. Many political leaders in the past have embraced winning "the battle of ideas" against Muslim extremists as the most important component of any strategy, yet this ubiquitous catchphrase stems from an erroneous, counterproductive framework for understanding extremists like Osama bin Laden.

The framework assumes that groups like Al-Qaeda possess a coherent and compelling interpretation of Islam that the US must counter to prevent Muslims from adopting it. This flawed understanding should be replaced by a more nuanced approach based on the true nature of the terrorist threat.

( That is the fundamental understanding in USA, G )

The "battle of ideas" approach is counterproductive for two important reasons: first, it encourages the concept of a Manichean struggle raging between two equally powerful and opposing world views, in effect legitimizing the extremists' understanding of the struggle; and second, it overstates the extent to which Bin Laden's worldview constitutes a viable theological alternative for the world's 1.3 billion Muslims. His zealous religious views are not only alien to most Muslims living today, but have also earned a place on the fringes of Islamic intellectual thought.

For an effective strategy, the United States needs to take three important steps.

    1st)
The first is de-coupling Islam and terrorism. The 9/11 Commission report states that "the enemy is not just 'terrorism' ... it is the threat posed by Islamist terrorism." While it is true that America faces a significant threat from people who identify themselves as Muslims and dress their grievances in religious terms, this does not mean that such people are perpetrators of "Islamist terrorism." The phrase implies that Islam sanctions terrorism and that Muslims are more likely to commit terrorist acts. ( This stems from the fact that almost all terrorists are Moslem's, the error in that paradigm is apparent in this restatement"
"While all rapists are men , not all men are rapists." G. )

"Terrorism in the name of Islam" is more accurate.

    2nd )
The second step requires recognition that most grievances expressed by extremists like Bin Laden are secular and political in nature. They are angry about what they perceive as the exploitation of Muslims at the hands of the US. They enjoy sympathy from Muslims who perceive the US - and the West in general - as perpetuators of an unjust global political-economic system. As many have already noted, the attacks of 9/11 targeted American financial and military complexes and not Western religious symbols. Though Washington should not accept at face value the legitimacy of Al-Qaeda grievances, we cannot effectively prevent terrorist acts from taking place without a better understanding of their ultimately profane roots.

( Here the fault lies with Islamic education, USA is accused or taking advantage of Moslems,
which maybe TRUE, but no more advantage than USA has taken with Europe, it is a capitalist system, one makes the best bargain one can, in an antique store one wouldn't offer a higher price just because the owner is a Moslem. Neither does that happen in the real world. If ANYBODY strikes a bad bargin, who's fault is it? I suspect any bad deals that were struck was because of a poor education, in the Madrases. G )

    3rd )
The third step involves ensuring the US actively works for the promotion of human dignity. American policy makers should make a concerted effort to understand the circumstances of the countries of the Muslim world that cause a sense of deprivation and humiliation among their populations, as these factors contribute to sympathy for Al-Qaeda's political aims. US conventional wisdom states that Muslims need to believe in an alternative vision for their economic and political future, though the vast majority of Muslims need no convincing that economic prosperity and political freedom are good things.

Muslims share the same vision held by humanity everywhere - a secure future for their children and a life defined by dignity and liberty. Thus, policymakers should approach Muslims as partners on the path toward bettering livelihoods in Muslim societies. If the US continues to be implicated in the social, political and economic underdevelopment of much of the Muslim world, Al-Qaeda will continue to gain followers who are blind to everything but the perceived destructive effects of American hegemony.

In the end, focusing on winning the "battle of ideas" obscures our view of what must be done to prevent future terrorist attacks. The US should recognize the true nature of the terrorist threat, identify its root causes, and partner with Muslims to eliminate them.

( Fixing the educational system, is one approach, jahidies I've talked to at length have a twisted view of history. G )

    CIA tour-de-force

I just finished Berntsen and Pezzullo book "Jaw Breaker", in one setting if you like real life CIA ops it is a Great read.
I was surprised on many levels, first it seemed to be a bit of a cluster f**k, but I mean that in the best possible way.

CTC looked at the OPs requirements and called experts to cover them and gave leaders the ability to pull additional men as they needed.
So we have a group of experts for a 5 paragraph meet to review and assign titles/positions and responsibilities.
A group of experts that may never have worked together before or even didn't know each other before the meet.

I kind of expected off the shelf highly trained experts that have drilled and drilled together like the SWAT teams you see on TV.
And the CIA really believes in cross training. And they are expected to work with and fit into a SEAL. or LURP. or DELTA FORCE team; tomorrow, never having worked with them.

The CIA team brought assets the other teams don't have ie, Intel sources and money and lots of it if needed.

Team Juliet Forward for example had the ability of the CIA, and USA military forces including the Air Force.
A small team or 4 to 7 could take on a thousand Taliban.
While the teams capabilities exceeded my expectations they also were not cutting edge.
They had to setup and take down their com link, it was not mobile.

The desire for Political Correctness also a handicap, but in the Information/Propaganda WAR of al Qaeda also makes it all important.
From Gary's perspective it was also " old boy " heavy, as changes seemed to be made for career decisions rather than just Victory considerations, but those were on the down hump.

I was surprised they didn't have real time satellite surveillance 24/7 for Afghan during the ops.
They had Biny driving around in this huge convoy and never hit it and didn't know where it was all the time. And al Qaeda retreating over or out of the mountains without having an AC-130 pounding the hell out of them every step of the way?

The video links between forward bases and C&C were few and far between if available at all.
I expected everybody to be in video com all the time.
And the inter service competition could have cost lives, very little but some none the less.
I would have added 2 more components, anthropologist, and an Information officer, with a thousand bots to feed him with OSINT about anything, warlord's bios, connections, posts, photos
history, tribe connections, Maps from virtually every library in the world, even a Google 3D look at all forward teams deployment locations... etc.

It was AMAZING to watch it all come together in real time in the book. They were really making WAR history doing something that had never been done before with equipment and men that had never been synced together. And the back 40 did a tremendous effort at keeping it all supplied, ( they even managed a American horse saddles for the team ) air cover most of the time every where. Simply amazing coordination of service forces and foreign non regular forces and hooking up with indigenous Intel sources in a tour de force of Military power. The like of history has never seen before. The coordination and cooperation of the services with the Intel agency was a force multiplier beyond expectation. And all are to be commended for their professionalism and expertise.

But they were missing one weapon, the Internet.

If I had been running the show there would have been a secure web site, and wiki which every team would reoprt to, and everyone would have the helmet cams for
live actions or future downloading. This would allow Gary to get a real time look at everything without having to make "phone calls". And give the Military and Intel services a place for input, and Intelligence. Bios of warlords for example and input of personal experiences with the Warlords for example.
Maybe even insert trackers for targets on a real time map,
And a realtime zoomable map with actions, combat and locations of forces with feeds from live real time satellites, drones and troops in the field.

Now I know all these abilities are available in bits and pieces, but have never seen them function togther as a unit. And there IS the security available to keep this Intra net secure world wide.

The CIA is not Internet friendly, the CIA tip line is a abysmal failure, try writing something in a doc or even in note pad and paste it into the Tip web site, no go, it won't take the
    "Note pad" formatting.

The CIA almost seems WWW aversive, afraid of the net.

The Internet in this case would be a tremendous force multiplier. for the Service.

But even without the www the CIA did the impossible job taking a country by force without an Army, and way below expected costs.

No agency in the world could have done it.
    Genius work from professionals.

    Thanks Guys

    Danes: GENIUS, HEARTS and MINDS

NOORDWIJK, The Netherlands - When NATO put out a call for more equipment in southern Afghanistan, it was expecting guns and helicopters - not cameras and video-cataloguing gear.

But that's what it got from Denmark: an offer of 1 million euros, or about C$1.4 million, to buy video equipment that will ultimately be used to deliver documented Taliban outrages to a television near you - or to the popular video website U-Tube.

At the end of a two-day informal meeting of defence ministers in the Netherlands, NATO's secretary general reiterated Thursday that the alliance needs to do a better job in public relations both in home countries and Afghanistan.

"What we can do is improve our public messaging," Jaap de Hoop Scheffer told reporters.

"Part of that public messaging could be to show to the people - and they can draw their own conclusions - what our opponent, our enemy in Afghanistan, looks like; what they do."

He accused the Taliban of performing "the most horrendous human rights violations."

Two weeks ago, de Hoop Scheffer made a pitch to declassify video surveillance footage shot by NATO forces throughout the Afghan conflict. Allied countries have a variety of electronic intelligence-gathering means at their disposal.

The Danes responded with an initiative to provide equipment to transfer and catalogue existing video taken by the various countries involved in fighting the insurgency war. There will also be cameras so that more video can be shot.

The alliance, for all its high-tech hardware and gizmos, does not have such a facility right now, said Canadian Col. Brett Boudreau, a spokesman for Gen. Ray Henault, head of NATO's military council.
Faced with sagging support in countries like Canada and the Netherlands for the Afghan mission, NATO sees the videos as a way of shoring up public opinion

Lets hope NATO make full use of equiptment.
Give every trooper a vid phone, upload every thing to NATO.

Why has NATO CLASSIFIED Talbi ourages?
NATO apparently possesses a trove of classified, clandestine footage.
    ?????

    USE IT.

    NEFA foundation, almost usefull

NEFA foundation has been releasing alot of translated terrorist documents in PDF.

Format, and they have chose to not allow "cut and paste".
Because it might cut down on hits, they are afraid they might not get credit?

Researchers can read it but can't use any parts of it, or pass it on for others to read, or to be included in other research.

Limiting distribution of their translations, well maybe they are Democrats, and are using the same logic on Censuring Turkey.

NEFA pdf's are almost useful. Its kind of like looking in a candy stores windows and never tasting the candy.

I could understand it if this was a straight commercial application, unrelated to the war effort, but it isn't.

And it isn't even their work product, its mostly just translations.

Why do they even post the pdf's?

Read the terrorist docs but you can't use them.

    Beyond the pall, inexcusable.

    Shame on NEFA.

    Gerald
Sometimes I may go to far and copy entire article with links.
But in this endeavor the INFO and message are all important.
I don't understand the apparent selfishness in this situation.

USA is in a media WAR and NEFA ties our hands.
And others that use protected PDF's
