Winds of Change in the Military

Winds of Change in the Military Approach

In recent weeks I have spent time at numerous events with U.S. military personnel across the different services, speaking, listening and watching as the senior officers challenge the assumptions they have help on the war on terrorism, Iraq, Afghanistan and other pressing issues.

One of the most innovative new concepts bubbling to the surface is that a great deal can be accomplished in pushing back against Islamist radicals, transnational criminal groups, warlords and militias by recognizing these issues all affect a nation’s sovereignty.

If one recognizes this, then the need to form coalitions built on U.S. assumptions, pressures and cajoling diminishes considerably. Nations can take actions in their own enlightened self interest to improve or regain their own sovereignty that benefit aspects of U.S. policy, without having to agree on any other policy aspect.

Most nations do not want organized criminal networks corrupting the system. Most do not want their territory to be terrorist enclaves. Most do not want warlords controlling vast swaths of territory.

This concept of helping nations focus on their own national sovereignty issues is liberating from the highly unpopular concepts of “coalitions of the willing” and other policies that have been trotted out in recent times.

Another noticeable change is the military’s new openness to outside thinking and input. This accounts, in large part, for my recent visits to different commands.

There is a growing recognition that the assumptions in recent years about tackling the broader issues of terrorism, as well as handling matters in Iraq, have to be adjusted. It is heartening to see a marked change toward the use and acceptance of open source material as valid, as well as the willingness to listen to sometimes harsh critics who share the same goals but debate the tactics and strategy.

One of the realities that much of the military has recognized for many years is that this will not be a military war, at least not the vast bulk of the struggles that arise. The military remains an integral and vital part of the architecture to deal with state and non-state threats, but are not the only part and are often not the lead part.

Given the weakness of the State Department,

( Impotent, is a better word, the State Department has no outreach program, EVEN just telling the truth, like VOA, to the "UMMAHS " IN THE MIDDLE EAST, desperately needed in Pashtoon language in Pakti.
nothing trying to connect to the hearts and minds, MIA. )

the generally-recognized inability of Karen Hughes to advance a coherent agenda on outreach, the weakness of the intelligence community and the hodge-podge on strategic thinking that has often prevailed, the military has been called on to do things that it is not qualified to do and should not be asked to do.

Now, it seems, the lines of responsibility are taking shape in a more coherent manner. Contrary to what many think, the military is quite happy to shed some of the responsibilities that have been thrown its way.

I don’t know how Iraq will turn out or if the situation in Pakistan will lead to a strengthening of al Qaeda. I do know that much creative thinking is now going into the short and long term issues this complex mosaic presents. It is refreshing to see.

    "Winds of Change" Ummah PUNKED

A new 40:18 minute, as-Sahab-produced video featuring five suicide bombers and speeches by current and former al-Qaeda leaders was distributed on jihadi message boards today, Saturday, July 14, 2007. Indicated to be the first in a series titled "The Winds of Paradise," the video opens with old footage of a speech by Usama bin Laden in which he emphasizes the importance of martyrdom. Other al-Qaeda leaders are also seen, among them Mustafa Abu al-Yazid AKA Sheikh Saeed and Sheikh Abu Yahya al-Libi, as well as al-Qaeda members in disguise, allegedly trainees at camps from which recent suicide bombers have been dispatched to Afghanistan and Pakistan. The video, which is accompanied by a narration, provides brief biographies of the bombers and their "road to jihad" from countries across the Middle East and South Asia, as well as a description of the attacks leading to their "martyrdom." One such attack is noted to have targeted an "American intelligence center" in Pakistan. While this video continues the tradition of al-Qaeda documenting their martyrs, it also serves as an inspirational tool for future recruits...

"What is this status that the best of mankind wished for himself?" CNN said bin Laden asked rhetorically. "He wished to be a martyr. He himself said: 'By Him in whose hands my life is! I would love to attack and be martyred'." MARTYRS DO NOT KILL WOMEN CHILDREN.

"This glorious prophet who was inspired by God summarised this entire life by these words. He wished upon himself this status. Happy is one who was chosen by God as a martyr," bin Laden said, according to the CNN translation of his remarks. CHOSEN BY GOD, BIN LADEN THINKS HE IS ALLAH,

Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, named as al Qaida's new commander in Afghanistan in May, also appears in the video, praising fighters ready to die for the cause of jihad, or holy war. BOMBING MOSQUES AND MARKET PLACES IS NOT JIHAD, IT IS Hirabah,

Al Qaeda is short of suicide bombers, this is their advertizment for More, Zarahi has said the Ummah are ignorant, but they are smart enough to know if they KILL WOMEN, CHILDREN,BOMB MOSQUES AND MARKET PLACES... they go to hell not pardise, no virgins no free passes for friends to pardise.

    WANTED DUMB SUICIDE BOMBERS

Jahidist start WORLD WIDE media WAR

    http://media.arstechnica.com/journals/apple.media/thumb/200/200/white_flag.jpg

From the previous post we see the instructions to infiltrate forums, and post propaganda.
Their goal is to start home grown jahidists, a call to action.
This will make them even more elusive.

So far there is no Western organized effort to confront this media war.
They keep moving on to the next step as they are defeated in their current areana.
Iraq's and other Muslims are taking on and out al qaeda, so they move to next step.

Islam is in a co-dependent relationship with the terrorists, Islam need to take them to task.

This is a very sucessful social change engine the islamofacsist are running.

They keep going to the next logical step, promoting jahidism, and the West so far just reacts, slowly, poorly, if at all.

USA has the worlds most powerful Army and USA gets whipped in the media war daily.
    USA is a non-particapant, a non-player.

They keep seeding their lies, falshoods and propaganda in the media and no one is responding to their poision they spread thru the Internet.

A LIE POSTED IN ENOUGH PLACES LONG ENOUGH WILL BE BELIEVED IF NOT CONFRONTED.

WHEN, WHEN DOES THE USA START THEIR MEDIA WAR AGAINST THE ISLAMOFACSIST?

Some of our efforts to respond to their lies with the truth"
    Blessed be al Qaeda:

USA is loosing the Media war by default, no social change engine...

We need to fight terrorism but also to stop its spread...

    Where is USA's media battalion?

al Qaeda has started a civil war in Iraq, and now Lebanon.
They recruit over the Internet and USA tracks them!!
    USA needs to counter them.
