The Simple Rt Rev Stephen Venner

The Simple Rt Rev Stephen Venner

"The Taliban can perhaps be admired for their conviction to their faith and their sense of loyalty to each other.”

The Rt Rev Stephen Venner called for a more sympathetic approach to the Islamic fundamentalists that recognises their humanity.
The Church of England’s Bishop to the Forces warned that it will be harder to reach a peaceful solution to the war if the Afghan insurgents are portrayed too negatively.

    simplistic ... or simple?

"The Nazi can perhaps be admired for their conviction to their Master Race and their sense of loyalty to each other.”

Ask a Jew about that; or one of the British troops about the Bishop's statement their answers maybe interchangeable.

The Rt Rev Stephen Venner called for a "more sympathetic approach to the Islamic fundamentalists that recognises their humanity". Would he have he called for a more sympathetic approach to the Nazi s?

Geeze I think Bishop owes an apology to the Forces and a resignation
    to the Church of England.
At the very least he is offering succor to the Enemy.

May I remind the preacher of the Taliban beheadings,
Including one beheading by a small boy, there are
videos around. And the Taliban using children for
    suicide bombings?

I suggest the Taliban have NO HONOR,
and offer proofs here. 50 links.

    Update:

    Bishop apologises for Afghanistan comments:

The Rt Rev Stephen Venner said he was deeply grieved to have caused offence by suggesting that the Taliban could be viewed in a more sympathetic light.
He admitted that his comments could appear “incredibly insensitive”, particularly to the families of soldiers who have died in Afghanistan.

Last night, the bishop was heavily criticised for his remarks, with questions being asked over whether he will be able to continue in the job.
Bishop Venner yesterday conceded that the attitude he had taken towards the Taliban had been “too simplistic” and stressed that what they are doing is evil.
He said he hoped that he had not jeopardised his job, which he took up recently after being commissioned by Dr Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury
However, Bob Russell, the Liberal Democrat MP for the garrison town of Colchester, accused the bishop of giving "comfort and succour to the enemy".

    Maybe we were heard?
