So much for 18 months’ worth of declarations of progress against the Pakistani Taliban and repeated polling from Afghanistan about the unpopularity of the Afghan Taliban. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari says that the al-Qaeda-aligned insurgent movements have the upper hand — and the more resonant argument.
“I believe that the international community, which Pakistan belongs to, is in the process of losing the war against the Taliban,” Zardari told Le Monde, according to Reuters‘ translation. “And that is, above all, because we have lost the battle for hearts and minds.”
A January poll from the BBC, ABC News and Germany’s ARD found that 69 percent of Afghans think the Taliban poses the greatest threat to Afghanistan’s future.
A June poll from the International Council on Security and Development still found that 72 percent ...of Afghans would prefer their children to grow up under an elected Afghan government than a Taliban one.
...support for al-Qaeda and the Taliban ticked up from last year, that support registered at 18% and 15% percent respectively, still down from 2008 levels.

So what in hell is Zardari talking about?
"al-Qaeda-aligned insurgent movements have the upper hand — and the more resonant argument. "
18% SUPPORT FOR TERRORIST IN PAKI,
79% DON'T SUPPORT THEM.
69% AFGHANs THINK TALIBAN BIGGEST THREAT TO FUTURE.
72% WANT KIDS TO GROW UP UNDER ELECTED GOV. NOT TALIBAN.
THAT READS LIKE A WIN TO ME.
MAYBE TIME TO REPLACE ZARDARI?
US is loosing the GWOT. BS
