Mrs. Rajavi’s international call for urgent action to prevent torture and execution of detainees

According to the Social Headquarters of the PMOI, Sohrab Arabi, 19, was killed under torture in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison. He was arrested during the uprising on June 20.

The mullahs’ Revolutionary Court on July 7 asked his family to post bail for his release. However the notorious Tehran Prosecutor Saeed Mortazavi on July 11 informed his relatives that they should go to Evin Prison to collect his corpse.

Previously, Kianoush Asa, a post-graduate Chemistry student from Tehran’s Science and Technology University, was arrested on June 15 and after enduring 10 days of brutal torture died under torture on June 24.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, offered her condolences to the families of these martyrs. She said mullahs’ inhuman regime is trying in vain to counter the increasing wave of popular protests and demonstrations through arrests, torture and executions. However these crimes make the Iranian people even more determined to bring about change and establish democracy in Iran, she said.

Mrs. Rajavi draws the attention of the international community, in particular the UN Secretary General, Security Council and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, to the dismal state of political prisoners and those arrested in the course of the recent uprising, in particular to cases of death under torture and calls for urgent measures to prevent the torture and execution of the detainees of the nationwide uprising and gain their immediate release. She calls for an international fact-finding mission to be dispatched to investigate the inhuman atrocities in Iran.
