Turkey's independent Kanal D channel reported last week that an Iranian businessman, Esmael Safarian-Nasab, had moved $7.5 billion in cash and 20 metric tons of gold to Turkey in October 2008.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said the Iran's Embassy in Ankara is holding talks with Turkish authorities to determine the truth of the incident.
According to Turkey's official news agency, Anadolu, Turkish State Minister Hayati Yazici dismissed the report on Thursday.
ISLAMABAD: A delegation of the elders of Mehsud tribe of South Waziristan has arrived in the federal capital in an effort to persuade the government to stop military action against the people of their area.
The 45-member jirga led by Senator Saleh Shah has met several leaders, including JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi and parliamentarians from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
They discussed the situation in Waziristan and the plight of the Mehsuds as a result of the action by security forces. The issue of displaced people was also discussed.
The jirga opposes military operation in the area, warning that such measures will result in a ‘catastrophe’.
The delegation’s spokesman Salahuddin Mehsud said the elders had informed the parliamentarians of hardships being faced by the people of the tribe.

#3) Are YOU Ready?
Aug 6th, 2009 by pedestrian
In Shi’a Islam, Imam Mahdi is the twelfth and last Imam, a grand-son of the prophet Muhammad. Muslims believe the Mahdi will rise from hiding (or is he sleeping? it’s called occultation) to rid the world of error, injustice and tyranny alongside Jesus - you know, like Batman and Robin. It’s just that I guess depending on your religion, you’d differ on which is which.
(double check my in-depth analysis with other, more knowledgeable folks. I’m not exactly an expert)
In these hard times, there are religious people who believe this current crisis is a sign of the rising of Mahdi who, according to tradition, is said to rise in the midst of a great catastrophe.
Is this why Farda News, a site close to Tehran’s mayor Qalibaf, has this opinion poll up?
Do you see yourself ready for the rise of Imam Mahdi?
- Yes
- No
- Somewhat
