US-led coalition planes kill 32 in Afghanistan
By Mushtaq Yusufzai
PESHAWAR: Baitullah Mehsud has reportedly suffered a heavy human loss as most of the militants killed in Afghanistan's Helmand province in bombings by the coalition forces on Thursday belonged to his group.
One of Baitullah's senior commanders told this scribe by telephone from an undisclosed location that 18 among dozens of militants killed in airstrikes by coalition forces in Afghanistan belonged to Makeen.
Pleading anonymity, he said four bodies of the slain militants were brought to the Makeen town in South Waziristan Agency through unfrequented routes after hectic efforts. He said dozens of Mehsud tribal militants, led by Commander Khan Ghafoor, had gone to Afghanistan to fight against the US-led forces there.
"They were staying in various houses when someone informed the US forces about their presence. The US planes bombarded their positions, killing most of them," said the Taliban commander.
Sources among the militants said four bodies brought to Makeen on Friday were identified as that of Hashim, Qalandar, Mohammad Ibrahim and Hameedullah.
