    Ops and Intel update. 02.11.08

In the leading story on Sunday, Feb 10th, 2008 the New York Times reported that that the Spanish Policy apprehended a man from Pakistani from Waziristan who was a French spy! French spy?!

"Asim had been sent to Spain to be a suicide bomber, but he also was an informant for French intelligence working in the no man's land of Waziristan in Pakistan. After he got word to his handlers of an impending attack, Spain's military police swooped into the neighborhood of Raval in the early hours of Jan. 19 and arrested 14 men. Now the officials unraveling the case say it demonstrates the growing threat of terrorist activities migrating to Continental Europe from Pakistan."

Waziristan is Pakistani territory. What are French spies doing in Waziristan? Why wasn't the Government of Pakistan informed about spy? What other information does France have from Waziristan?

ISLAMABAD, Feb 9: The United States will not attack or invade Pakistan and the two countries would have to work together for a "very long time", the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, said at a press conference on Saturday.

The admiral earlier met President Pervez Musharraf, Gen Tariq Majeed, the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and chief of the Strategic Planning Division, Lt-Gen (retd) Khalid Kidwai.

He said he had held very constructive talks, particularly about intensifying the war on terror in the region.
