Like something out of the 1950's, the Army officer, said "yes we have 500 marines ready to go and fight the Calf. fires." The question was did the USA have troops ready to go fight the forest fires?

Then the officer replied, after additional training and certification they can go.

THE ACCURATE ANSWER WAS "NO" NOT YET, THEY NEED TRAINING FIRST.

The army command should have forseen the need for firefighters, based on past fires that a fire could get out of control in the future and require federal or Army help.

NO contingent planning.

And the Command need more than just 500 trained, make it a new mos, train 5,000+.

What other new mos DOES 911 call for?

They did do an outstanding job of gearing up and setting up emergency communications.

Arnold surprised me , moved and sheltered a MILLION PEOPLE, ALMOST OVER NIGHT.
CUDOS, CUDOS. Other cities will be studying this.
I'd like to see some time lines for evacuation of that million people.

This will be important in the future. NY needs to study this.
