Nuclear Activities in the Middle East

With offers of help, particularly from France and, to a lesser extent, from the U.S, some Arab countries have taken steps to acquire nuclear technology in terms of energy diversification, electricity needs, and water desalination. In a very short while, President Nicolas Sarkozy of France signed no fewer than eight nuclear deals with Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Libya, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.(7)
