Simple minded?

An old proverb in the Arab world, used frequently by contemporary Jihadists says:
"Unsur akhaka zaliman kana am mazluma"
(support your brother, should he be oppressor or oppressed).

If he is oppressing you : HE is NOT you Brother.

Is the Ummah truly that simple minded?
