Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry ordered the attorney general, the head of Pakistan's Rangers paramilitary force and other senior government officials to appear in person with a complete record of the incident.

Senior police official Tariq Dharejo told AFP.“We have produced them in a sessions court where the judge remanded them into police custody for five days until Wednesday,”Shahid Zafar and Mohammed Afzal

Major General Aijaz Chaudhry, the Rangers chief in the province of Sindh, said that a three-member team had been set up to conduct an inquiry.

In the early hours of Thursday, the Boat Basin police registered a case (FIR 227/2011) under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against Sindh Rangers constables Mohammad Afzal and Shahid Zafar on a complaint of the victim’s elder brother, Saalik Shah, a journalist associated with Samaa TV.
